Missed Opportunities

February 22nd, 2009
If I was not very conscious speaking in front of the camera when I was 12 years younger I could have been at the ranks of the top-billed newscasters/TV reporters here in Philippines if not an actress. It was embarrassing to remember how I stutter or make some unnecessary gestures that made me look like a nervous little wreck in front of the camera. Because of that I have turned down offers or backed out losing the opportunity.

It was crazy though because I am used to talking/reading in front of people before. I was a President of the Youth Lector and Commentators in our church. But of course reading is different. My sister heard me do a reading during our fathers wake and she was impressed. She never saw me talk that way confident and without my Filipino accent.

I guess TV cameras got the best of me. But no use regretting its all in the past. I’m old and have a different life path and that was not meant for me. Lesson learned though, seize opportunities and let go of your fear of public speaking. I wish this e-book was available back then, I could have avoided those speaking disasters and be more confident in front of an audience.
