It’s been almost 8 years since the last time I’ve visited Hong Kong. I am looking forward to see this city again and see what are the many changes. I’ve been there thrice in different occassion, two solo travels and one with my family. We were there when Hong Kong Disneyland Resort just opened and it was a Christmas Holiday travel with the family.
Anyway, enough my life drama.
My past visits in Hong Kong were all about tourist destinations , exploring the scenery and immersing myself in their culture by visiting their temples and museums. For my next visit what I plan is to have an #Eatsperience. People around the world flock to Hong Kong to experience its rich culinary landscape. I was not that adventurous with food before but now I’d try anything (except poisonous ones of course).
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) gave me a list of the must-try eats that will give every traveller in the city an athentic local experience. Here are the 5 Places 5 Dishes to #Eatsperience Hong Kong Like a Local :
Hop Yik Tai

For a taste of popular Chinese Dish head on to this Michelin guide-recognized eatery known to serve some of the best cheng fun, or noodle rice roll in the city.
Kwan Kee Claypot Rice

This place have been serving delicious claypot rice meals for over 20 years. Choose from a variety of toppings on your delicious saucy and crisp rice, but most recommended is the Chinese Sausage. Perfect time to visit is before 7Om or after 9pm when the crowd dies down.
Kei Tsui Cake Shop
G/F, 135 Fa Yuen Street
Kei Sui is as traditional as a Chinese bakery gets. Don’t expect to find your usual cakes here – their branches draw in both local and tourist alike for their variety of old-school snacks that have become hard to find in Hong Kong such as egg tarts, chicken biscuit, and sweetheart cakes.
Kam’s Roast Goose
G/F, Po Wah Commercial Center, 226 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai
This eatery was awarded the Michelin star just months after opening and it is apparent why. Founded by the third successor of the world-famous Yung Kee Goose, Kam’s serves only the most delicious roast meats like char siu, barbeque pork, suckling pig and goose. The half century-old family recipe has been satisfying customers since 1974, so the wait will be worth it.
Sun Kee Noodles
Shop B G/F, 49 Tang Lung Street, Causeway Bay
Locals love card noodles for its affordability, convenience and variety. This street food gained its popularity in 1950s and still remains popular today for Hongkongers looking for a quick ad filling bite to eat. When at Sun Kee, don’t miss out on their famous spicy sauce made from their secret recipe.
