The Body Shop 2011 Spring/Summer Trend Makeup Collection Review

I’m feeling kinda down today and so I decided maybe a little make-up will help cheer me up.

So, while Katy Perry was trying hard to perk me up with her Fireworks I was trying The Body Shop’s 2011 Spring Trend Makeup Collection, the Brush With Fashion, a makeup collection they collaborated with London College of Fashion.

IBrush With Fashion Makeup Collection

The Brush With Fashion Makeup Collection is composed of the following:

  1. Limited Edition For Eyes Palette
  2. Illuminating Face Base
  3. Hi-Shine Lip Treatment and
  4. Tailored Cheek Tint

The Brush for Fashion Limited Edition For Eyes Palette comes in two different color  combination, one with the nude/browns and one with the  pink/silver.

Brush For Fashion Limited Edition Eye Palette
I got the one with the browns/nude   Boho Beauty which has new nude, vintage apricot, boho brown and haute chocolate and rich brown eye definer.

Eye Palette Color Swatches

BrushwithFashionMakeup

Brush with Fashion Tailored Cheek Tint is a clear gel that magically transforms on the skin into a pink blush suited to your skin tone.

Brush For Fashion Cheek Tint

How to use:

I thought it will be difficult to apply but I was surprised how easy it was. Its like the regular cheek and lip tint. Just squeeze the right amount and dab on the apple of your cheeks and wait for color to develop then smudge.

I love how the color is self adjusting giving me the right hint of color that matches my skin tone.

This is me wearing the eye palette and the cheek tint… no lipstick

I think it looks fresh perfect for a Spring/Summer look!

The Brush With Fashion is The Body Shops 2011 Spring/Summer Trend Makeup Collection and just launched recently.  I attended the launch here in Manila last Tuesday at The Body Shop store in SM Megamall.

The Body Shop Kajal Eyeliner Review

If there is one part on my face that I would highlight more often with make up, that would be my eyes. To find a product that can be used as an eye shadow and eye liner would be the greatest find of all the gorgeous finds.

What is Kahal?
Is a very dark eyeliner used by the women in the Middle East, India, Pakistan. It comes in different forms: liquid, pencil and powder. Kahal gives intense color to the eye. Older brands used to contain herbal properties such as castor oil, almond oil that gave it a distinct smell. Women in India used Kahal to get rid of the evil eye.

Kajal Eyeliner

Kahal eyeliner is a unique product that helps to define the eyes, to you can create intensity and reflect light. The Body Shop Kajal Eyeliner retails at Php695.00 each comes in three colors: Steel, Black and Green.

Kajal Eyeliner Swatches

How to use:
Apply to the lash lines for dramatic, dreamy eyes or smudge over the eyelid for a sultry, mouldering, eyeshadow look. You can use a blending blush or your ring fingertips to apply.

What do I think about it?

  • I think this is one of the best product ever invented as it serves two purpose, an eyeliner and an eye shadow.
  • I love the creamy texture as it easily glides onto skin despite its solid form packaging.
  • It doesn’t melt easily in intense heat.
  • It can be easily applied on the lids and the eye lines and is not irritating.
  • Steel smudges off easily compared to the black, I haven’t tried the blue one yet.
  • But overall its a good make up piece to have in your emergency make up kit.

Do I recommend The Body Shop Kahal Eyeliner?
Yes.

I even created three different looks with the Kajal Eyeliner as the focal point/attraction.

Autumn Subtle Day Look

I used all the products from The Body Shop 2010 Autumn Trend Collection which includes the Kajal Eyeliner in Steel, Eye Colour eye shadow (in Golden Peach and Velvet Green),  Autumn Leaves Compact Blusher, and Colourglide™ Lip Colour in Peach.

The Body Shop 2010 Autumn Trend Collection Launch

I’ve always wanted to do that smoky eye look without having to look like someone just punched me on the face or  that I didn’t get enough sleep. When I learned that The Body Shop will be launching their 2010 Autumn Trend Collection featuring the ‘Smoke and Fire’ look I was very much excited.

‘Smoke and Fire’ look is inspired by the rich, natural, earthy colours of the changing season combined with the dramatic flash of light associated with breath-taking autumn skies.

Here are my favorite beauty bloggers trying out the look:

Freelance make up artist Den from the blog The Make Up Den showed us how to achieve the smoky eye look (Billie), cats eye look (Me) and a light smoky eye look (Tara) using the kajal eyeliner.  Nikki and Shen also had a make over.

Peek Inside My Purse

Finally, after almost a month Jennie sent me this purse tag, I am now allowing everyone to see what’s in my purse.

I just bought this Secosana Leader Handbag two weeks ago (P750 there’s a 20% discount when I got it at SM Fairview) because my favorite black Celine handbag (P1,800) need to retire the tassel and the metal rings are just too heavy to carry everyday.  I am into lime greens lately so this one caught my eye.  It’s almost 24 inches in width and almost a foot in height and 10 inches thick, so you could imagine it’s a big handbag.  I like them big since I carry a lot of stuff especially when I am with my daughter. This is what I was using last Friday with the tea/pizza party with fashion and beauty bloggers and this is what I used  today when I took my daughter to her school for her summer class.

Secosana Leather HandBag In Apple Green

Peek inside my purse

This purse has a striped lining inside that looks so cute.

What's in my bag?

  1. A little green notebook for my notes and list of to do’s and to buys.
  2. My passport, which needs to be renewed in 2010 but there’s a new passport now the machine readable and it’s maroon.  I always carry this in case I need to transact some business and more often than not they require two valid ID’s, I lost all of my valid ID when  my purse got stolen in June 2008 . Or in case suddenly somebody want to snatch me for a day or two out-of-the-country probably anywhere in Asia LOL!
  3. My Herbench Shades as much as possible I am trying to avoid squinting when out in the sun because the wrinkles below my eyes are getting too prominent.
  4. My LizSport perfume although I only spray once before I leave the house.
  5. My ever reliable 7.2 megapixel Sony Cybershot you know how active I can be and I love taking pictures so this is so handy!
  6. My purple umbrella ela ela eh eh eh! LOL.
  7. Bills and receipts in case I want to make advance payments or dispute incorrect charges.
  8. My black leather Prada wallet that my sister gave to me when she went home for a vacation.  It has my ATMs and discount and membership cards and my daughters prescriptions.
  9. My Sony K8001.
  10. Nichido duo eye shaddow in black and brown.
  11. VMV eyeshaddow pack.
  12. Herbench paintbox facepowder natural.
  13. My little bag organizer that holds all my Fashion 21 eyebrow pencil and eyeliner, Herbench mascara, Nivea lipgloss, The Body Shop high shine lip treatment, lip and cheek stain from Fashion 21 and Everbilena.
  14. Leopard printed bag organizer that carries my receipts, bills, face powder, passport, eyeshaddows.
  15. A black pen.

Here are the rules:
1. Post a picture of whatever bag you are carrying as of late. No, you can’t go into your closet and pull out your favorite purse! We want to know what you carried today or the last time you left the house.
2. List how much it cost. And this is not to judge. This is for entertainment purposes only. So spill it. And if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, we’d love to hear it.
3. Tag some chicks. And link back to this post so people know why the heck you’re showing everyone your bag.

Now the fun part, I am tagging Rochelle, Lace, Anna, Mauie, Abbie, Monique and Mitch.
