2009 Revisited: Earthlingorgeous.com Year Ender

2009 has been a wonderful year despite all the trials along the way we all survived with our heads held up high and hope for a better one in 2010.  I made a run down on the highlights of last years post and wow it was a lot.  Come and join me as I revisit the year that was.

January 2009

I love this month since I celebrate two birthdays my daughter’s birthday and my birthday.  This year was a big 7th birthday party for my daughter and all expense for that party was from my blogging.

It was also the month my best friend’s youngest sister, who was just 6 or something when we were in highschool got married, which made me realized I’m old!

This was the month I got the Earthlingorgeous.com domain, it was Earthly Explorations dot blogspot dot com before.  So, technically Earthlingorgeous will be 1 year old!  And we are all celebrating it with my 2nd Blog Anniversary Thanks Giving Treat.

My daughter almost got kidnapped this month because of that thoughtless nanny. I also had my fashion and make-up session with School Of Fashion and the Arts (SOFA) which officially made me a fashion and beauty blogger.

I got a flu shot this month sponsored by Nuffnang and Sanofi Pasteur where I met blogger friends the amazing blogger couple Jenni, Jeff A., Mauie and other mom bloggers.

Same month I attended the Good Autism Practice (GAP) conference where I learned more about autism and how to deal with it especially during adulthood and met lots of parents from CARD and ASP as my support group.

February 2009

Was the month I met Piolo Pascual and Marian Rivera for the first time at the Blue Water Day Spa branch in Capitol Hills, Quezon City.  It’s where Piolo shared his hunkable secret and Marian shared her beauty regime exclusively with me.

It was the month where I got to explore with fellow bloggers my two addiction, shopping and foot spa!   The Confessions of A Shoppaholic movie premiere and blog awarding ceremony is where I got to spend time with fashionista and shopaholic blogger friends that I met for the first time like Lizz, Frances and Mike.  While I enjoyed a foot spa at the First Movie Theater Spa with a different set of bloggers including James, Phia, Azrael, Lace, Janette Toral, and Carlo Ople.


I posted 10 things you should know about autism mostly to make people aware of their difference and that its not a contagious disease to be afraid of.

March 2009

Was a sad month for the Philippine music industry as Francis Magalona, the Master Rapper,  finally rapped in peace when he gave in to his illness, Leukemia.

Twas the month bloggers went to an Island Cove Adventure where I got to showcase my singing prowess (LOL) and got a 100 score at the videoke challenge (ahahahaha!)

It was the same month we were running crazy wearing a sash shopping for food items at Shangri-la Plaza Mall for the Fish and Co. Prep Up the Platter challenge.  Both activities were organized by Yehey.com.

Met BB Gandanghari who finally broke his silence.  Havainas were recalled worldwide for possible led poisoning. Same month I tried an eyelash extension and won $50 from Evil Woobie’s birthday valentine contest.   The premiere of Monsters vs. Aliens and the Heavenly Chocolate seminar.

April 2009

The 1st of the month is the day we celebrate World Autism Day, loads of activities and seminars are being held this day.  It was the time I contemplated much about what will happen to my child when I’m gone, who will take care of her, how she going to survive with autism.

TGI Friday invited us for a scrumptious treat where you can say it’s Friday everyday.   While BizU served us with their  summer treat.  It was the month I unserved Nuffnang for awhile after their old staff treated me .

Then the fun Friday with Fashion and Beauty Bloggers organized by Lace where I won a Php5,000 worth of jeans from Tough Jeansmith.  The event was featured on QTV’s QTube and Andi joined us.

Same month I became a Yoga Virgin No More and Tessa Celdran was my instructor.  And had another spa treat a Swedish massage from Blue Water Day spa with Phia and Badet.  Red Ribbon introduced their Cookies and Cream cake this month.

May 2009

Lots of good movies were out this month Wolverine, Angels and Demons, Star Trek and Night at the Museum 2.

This was the busiest month for the Philippine Fashion Week 2009.


Manny Pacquiao won the fight with Ricky Hatton where he knocked the guy thrice on the first round!

Mother’s Day! Iblog5 Summit.

Replied to a Senators question on how they can help enable parents with child with autism.  I also shared my experience on how I prepared my daughter for her first air travel.

I tried a non-invasive slimming treatment at Fucoidan and met Maricar Reyes before the scandal was exposed. She resigned a week after meeting her. Met Carmina Villaroel at the Ensembles Debbie Co collection launch at The Row Glorietta 5.  Attended the SM Hypermart Mandaluyong Grand Opening.


Karyl replaced Marian Rivera as endorser of Blue Water Day Spa and the first time I heard and met Akihiro.  Met the Dare Duo, Marc Nelson and Rovilson Farnandez  at the SM City North EDSA Sky Garden Grand opening.

June 2009

Most post for this month was dedicated to the Philippine Fashion Week 2009 where I featured each of the Philippine fashion designers collection I was able to take photos during the event.

Got invited to take a tour at the newest tourist destination in the country offering premiere hotel services and gaming.  We all got dolled up at the Resorts World soft opening which they called the Casino Royal night. They also offer service and hospitality courses at Genting Star Tourism Academy where one gets to do their practicum at the Resorts World, the one they dubbed as the Tourism City of the Philippines that is now operational.

Then the world weep when the King of Pop Michael Jackson passed away and other icons like one of Charlies Angels  Farrah Faucett and Ed McMahon died same same week.

Had brunch with Discovery Travel and Living’s World Cafe Asia star Bobby Chinn at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Boni High Street.

And had a fun tour at the Nido Science Discovery Center with fellow bloggers where were reminisced our childhood science lessons.
1st time to celebrate Father’s Day without my father’s physical presence but instead visited where his remains are at St. Peter Columbary at Commonwealth, Quezon City.  It was mom’s 73rd Birthday without dad too and my parents supposedly 37th Wedding Anniversary.

And was the start of my love affair with the color Purple because of Yahoo’s Purple Hunt!  And met my fellow Ms. Earth at Enchanted Kingdoms Flores de Mayo.

This was the month I created a new blog the FabRecessionista .com that I haven’t been updating lately.

I got reacquainted with a relative I’ve never seen in my life before during the Spain on The Road Food Fiesta, assistant chef of Chef Chef Alexandra Got Pradera Cacho owner and head of Tapella by Gaudi, who showed us how to make an authentic Spanish Paella.

Discovered an awesome authentic all Japanese products that is sold at Php85 each at Saizen store at Robinsons Galleria.  And found a shoe store that actually has my size, I’m a size 4, at VNC new collection launch at Milkway in Makati.

I went search for the Most Influential Blogger that I will nominate for the Top Emerging Influential Blogs and so happy to got a lot of responses to it.

I shared tips on how to raise a frugal family and bragged about me and my daughter’s bestest friends, or BFF,  in the whole wide world.

This was the month The Balangay sailed again.  The same month our idiot Congressmen approved a resolution that would convene Congress into a constituent assembly to amend the 1987 Constitution (House Resolution 1109).  I’m glad people are move vigilant now to halt stoopid and scary acts of the present administration.

July

Was the month former President Corazon Cojuanco Aquino a.k.a. Tita Cory died due to her colon cancer. Same month your President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo delivered her empty 2009 State of the Nation Address (SONA) and where I had fun sharing exclusive photos of what our law makers wore during the event which I called the 2009 SONA Fashion Showcase and exposed how much was spent for the 2009 SONA.

This was the month I discovered awesome products like a fabric conditioner that repels mosquito, an cool gadget that is as good as having a facial everyday, the Neutrogena Wave, and rediscovered the wonders of the backyard vegetable Malunggay or Moringa Olifeira .  I posted about the 72 medicines that are included in the price reduction.

And told you what I think of the movie OrphanMy daughter watched her first movie and it was Harry Potter The Half Blood Prince which we watched at SM City North EDSA IMAX theater.  My daughter also had her first epileptic seizure attack which scared me to death.  She was confined at the PCMC for this.  I also asked for help to save my daughters school CDIFI .  We also celebrated My father’s 1st year death anniversary.

I made another blog this time and it was my food blog, Matakaw Ako! and finally Nuffnang Philippines apologized for the misbehavior of their old staff and where my list for the Top 10 Influential Blogger was completed.

Aside from the Orphan and Harry Potter Half Blood Prince, there are other good movies that were released and told you how I think of them like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

I think this was also the dawn of 3D movie theaters as SM launched their 2nd IMAX Cinema at SM North EDSA and Trinoma unveiled their first 3D Digital Cinema.

August 2009

Was my late summer getaway at Bilabong Surf School in La Union where I learned how to surf and poi dance with Sago and other bloggers because of the Let’s Go Surfing trip.

Different products and services were launched like the Globe Tattoo Prepaid Sim with Immortal Text, The Johnson’s Body Care Line for Women/Adult, Philips LCD monitors, Samsung LED TV debut.

I rediscovered my love for Hello Kitty with the launch of the Hello Kitty Online game and the 35 years of Hello Kitty toys at McDonalds that I was not able to complete booo.

Attended TV5 1st year Anniversary, the 2009 Nescafe 3-in-1 Soundskool kick-off party, met mommy bloggers at the She Blogs Off Meet at SM Megamall especially my long time blogger friend Jade from Singapore.

I told you what I think about The Time Travelers Wife and about that inconsiderate poser of Senator Jamby Madrigal for President website.

This is the month the world paid their last tribute to Cory Aquino.

September 2009

This month was the most trying month in Metro Manila after Typhoon Ondoy unexpectedly hit us real hard with a flood that drowned a cities, the country reunited and drop-off points for donations worldwide were set-up the response of Filipino worldwide was overwhelming and heart warming.

I gave a tip on how to recover water damaged PC memories because most were soaked and don’t know how to recover precious files.

Before the calamity there were many activities set for Autism awareness like the 1st Southeast Asian Conference on Autism and the launch of the 1st Sensory Friendly Theater at SM North EDSA The Block.  I also urge people to support the passage of the Free Special Education Act HB6771

I told you what I think about The Age Of Stupid and that it merits to be shown mainstream to warn people about the impending problems we will face because of the Climate Change.

Red Ribbon launched my favorite cake White Forrest and I had my embarrassing blemish on my left cheek removed thanks to Bioessence spa and lay bare at the Lay Bare waxing salon (haha) and tried the eyelash perming at Bioessence.  Nestle Philippines taught me about good diet with their I Choose Wellness program.

I didn’t know that the non-stop rainy days was the prelude to Ondoy, I even held a rainy day contest because I was bored and can’t go out because of the rain.

October 2009

Was when my affair with the Avon Anew Rejuvenate flash begun and my love for Ang Kiukok art when I saw his art come to life furing Freeway launched their latest collection from the National Artist Collection featuring Ang Kiukok.

I also discovered a quick, inexpensive 4 minute workout courtesy of Fit ‘N Right.

Then had my fortune read at the Psychic Festival in Eastwood, the 2009 Nescafe 3-in-1 Soundskool GMA eliminations, Philippine Fashion Week 2010 Spring Summer Collection, and the PLDT MyDSL Watchpad launch , the SM Mega Atrium launch, the Flavors of Spain food and wine event and the Pinoy Big Brother Double Up kick-off media launch.

I told you what I think about the movie Battle For Terra and told you my opinion about the corned tunas like San Marino and Century Tuna.

Went for a visit at the GK Sunshine Ville in Las Pinas where they showed us the Bayong ng Kabuhayan.

It was also the Blog Action day and the theme was Climate Change where I made a post about not just talking but doing and what I think about The Age of Stupid movie.

We learned how Paypal is unfriendly to Philippine charitable organizations when they held money raised for Ondoy victims.   The month Typhoon Pepeng destroyed Northern Luzon.

This was the time the FDC rule on disclosures about product reviews and sponsored post was publicized which changed paid post opportunities a bit after its implementation December 1st.

November 2009

The best part of November was when two lifelong dreams came true, one was being a Chef for a day at the Connoisseur Food Battle at MICAH and my Barrista Experience at Le Bistro.

I told you I rooted for Team Jacob at the movie Twilight Saga: New Moon and how I got reacquainted with Amelia Earhart in the movie Amelia.

I had fun exploring the new beauty store of SM, Beauty by SM, and seeing the replica of a Baby Blue Whale at the Big Blue Exhibit launch.  I also reminisced Baby Bedtime with Johnson’s and other female bloggers.  I was there when Eevee won the 2009 Nescafe Soundskool.  I also met Batman. I also Ate to Educate at BHS.

It was also the time I was looking for Fitnesse partners and team mates for the Nestle Fitnesse challenge that we won. Thanks everyone for the support!

Now were down at December and everything is still fresh so no need to recall. Now I’m just waiting on the midnight of the 31st for the New Year to come.
