The year 2012 is one of the most challenging year for most of us. There were roller-coaster of emotions and events (personal or natural calamities) that tried to break us but eventually it was the reason for us to become more stronger and achieve something better . There were low points and high points, but I am glad we all survived (I know you survived because you are reading this right now!). Congratulations! With that said let me take you to the best events of my 2012 for each month of the year.
JANUARY 2012
Is my most favorite month of the year because of three reasons:
- Earthlingorgeous.com Blog anniversary month
- My Daughter’s birthday
- My Birthday
This 2012 Coca-Cola Philippines Celebrated 100 Years of Happiness representing their 100 years anniversary in the country. I was asked to be one of the Coca-Cola Happiness Correspondent. My first assignment was to cover the Wear Happiness a collaboration of Bench & Coke where I get to meet Mr. Ben Chan himself. It was a fun event featuring the country’s top teen celebrities and Manila’s top fashion bloggers.
FEBRUARY 2012
Love is definitely in the air literally and figuratively this month, even if I don’t have a significant other to celebrate Valentine’s this month I still felt the floating feeling of being inlove at the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Clark Field Pampangga where there’s a showcase of everything that flies (Hot Air Balloons, Airplanes, Aircraft, Kite, Paraglydes, Helicopter etc. etc.)
I also get to experience the magic of kissing while I watched the mesmerizing fireworks and pyrotechnic display at Pyropalooza or Pyromusical at the beautiful Manila Bay. Oh yeah, I saw David Archuleta at the Pyromusical.
This was one of my busiest month as a Coca-Cola Happiness Correspondent as I get to drop-by and mingle with the country’s top bands and artist while they do their rehearsals for the epic Coca-Cola Concert ng Bayan that lasted for 10 hours! Some of the bands I get to “jam” with were Ebe Dancel, Rico Blanco, the ChicoSci, SpongeCola, CallaLily. I felt like a concert queen! Haha!
Was the month when our legislators had different versions of Making the Rights Real for Persons with Autism but sadly none of the law they want to enact was signed this year. I hope they sign something in 2013.
This was also the first time I had my hair rebond at Headzone in Edsa Shangri-la Hotel as sponsored by L’Oreal Professionel. I love the result my hair was revitalized but honestly I miss my natural wavy locks.
MAY 2012
Is one of the most eventful an most international month for me and Manila. Lady Gaga Monster Ball concert and I was there to cover!
I get to meet Ian Somerhalder a.k.a. Damon Salvatore of The Vampire Diaries in person for real, sight sound and touch! Leighton Meester a.k.a. Blair Waldorf also came to walk the catwalk for Penshoppe Impact Philippine Fashion Week show!
We made a video with my fellow Bloggers United friends for the Bloggers United Bazaar 3 made by Zalora.com. It was a fun video lip-dubbing Starship by Nicki Minaj.
JUNE 2012
Lot’s of launch and parties happened. I particularly love the 1980’s themed party at Opus Resto Bar in Resorts World Manila for a magazine launch. But what I loved best was hanging-out at Bar Dolci with my favorite fashion blogger friends. It was also the farewell/ send-off party for Reg Rodriguez one of my fave babe who will leave for Singapore to work. It was also to review Bar Dolci’s latest menu.
JULY 2012
We had a send-off party for our athletes for the London Olympics this month I was one of the correspondents for P&G. There were a lot of food events and launches as well. But my favorite part was when Sony Philippines finally gave me one of the best gift I got this year! My new blogging partner my Gorgeous Sony Vaio E-series super sleek, chic and metallic pink!
It feels so great when people you don’t know recognize you for what you do. I was asked for a speaking engagement in-front of thousands of people at the SM SkyDome for the Asenso Pinoy 7th year anniversary. I talked about blogging and answered a handful of queries about my craft.
Solar News TV invited me to guest for their pilot episode of The Blogger. I was asked to talk about my controversial stand about the Cybercrime Law and why I am against the anomalous provisions of online libel.
I get to see Zac Efron who had a fans day for Penshoppe that filled the SM MOA Arena with Efron fanatics!
OCTOBER 2012
Thanks to Fitflop Due for taking me and my favorite fashion blogger babies to a Fashion Fieldtrip in Tagaytay with Sonya’s Garden as our home for the trip. We also visited Bag of Beans, The Boutique and the city nightlife.
NOVEMBER 2012
Breaking the World Record for the Most Number of People Walking the Runway was one of the most unforgettable events of this year and I was there to cover everything. I would have walked the runway but I choose to be on the sidelights. I was super starstruck with the Guiness World Record Representative, I watched her every move. I was on the front row with my baby Ana Gonzalez who also choose to be on the sidelights. But we had fun as Kyle Patrick of Click5 and Bamboo serenaded us! Haha!
I had my poster up for a month at SM North EDSA the Block for Uniqlo Philippines who opened their 2nd branch there. It was funny embarrassing and amazing haha!
Camay, an iconic soap brand I grew up with that I thought I will never see again was relaunched at Opus Resto Bar this month! It was a trip to memory lane. I love it.
Noteworthy in 2012
Aside from the above events, there are other things that worth to take note of in 2012 like the boom of lifestyle box subscription services such as
- Sample Room
- Glamour Box
- SaladBox and
- BDJ Box.
Controversial Laws
- Filipino Netizens all over the country and even around the world got together to fight against the controversial provisions of the newly signed Cybercrime Law where online libel is penalized. The Online Libel, netizens like me believe is curtaling the freedom of expression. Good thing there is an on-going TRO so everyone is still free to say anything they want online. No holds bar.
- RH Bill is now waiting for a signature from the President to be considered a law. Before the year ended our legislators from both houses Senate and Congress made sure to pass their versions of the Reproductive Health Bill. If President Noynoy Aquino finally pass this law then order is in place again. We will now see the separation of Church and State.
Current Events
- Habagat was the storm that wasn’t the storm that destroyed many livelihood and lives this year. Another destrucitive natural calamity that happened this year was typhoon Quinta where thousands of people are still missing and thousand died. Upto this writing retrieval operations is still happening.
- Scarborough Shoal dispute. Honestly, this land is ours. No dispute.
- Sottoism. Now he is popular the way he wants to be. Don’t vote for this guy in case he runs for public office again.
- Manny Pacquiao Knocked-Out!
- Our Beauty Queens are always 1st Runner-Up. When will be bring the crown! Hopefully in 2013!
So, yeah there goes my Best of 2012. This year would have not been awesome if not for my amazing readers and sponsors who continue to believe in me. Thank you everyone!
My Best of 2012 Beauty Awards will follow on the next post (here). So what made your best in 2012?
