When I wrote about my Autism Acceptance post last year, the stats I gathered said there is 1 in 88 children who are diagnosed with autism. Today as I was doing my research, the latsst statistic shows that there is now 1 in 68 children diagnosed with autism.
Should this cause alarm from everyone? Why is there a fast increase in numbers?
The increase in number is seen as positive by autism advocates as it is an indicator that parents getting their child diagnosed increase and the means to diagnose increase as well.
However, theel bigger and mibd boggling question still remains: What causes autism?
Autism spectrum varies from case to case. No one case is the same as the other. But the most important part to know about autism is that it causes social and communication problems with the person afflicted with it.
Take for example my daughter she is non-verbal but she can communicate her wants and need in a different way. She has vocals but has problem immitating worda or putting words together that has meaning. She is very sweet and because I expplosed her to people she is not uncomfortable in a big crowd although she puts her hand over her ears sometimes when it is too much for her or she feels a little uncomfortable in the situation and is trying to adjust.
Anyway, with all that I’ve said. I am inviting everyone to please wear blue on April 2, 2014 which is the World Autism Day just to show suppport to families and people afflicted with autism. That even if you don’t fully understand the disability you know it exist and that you are trying your best to not hurt someone with autism directly or indirectly.
Just because they are different, they are not humans who needs respect and love above all else.
Stay gorgeous everyone!
