Going For It —Easy Ways to Get Fit in 2015

So 2015 is in full swing and the year is awash with resolutions and potential ways to change your lifestyle for the better. Getting into shape is one of the popular ones. It’s a mission which takes some graft, but here are some of the easier ways to make the grade.

Life is meant for two (wheels)
Maybe you take the bus to and from work? Why not squeeze some exercise into your day by cycling to work instead. Cycling is one of the best ways to get into shape there is. It’s also a chance to get out and explore your area, whether you’re in or out of work. And who says you have to take the same route?

Hit the ground running
Sure it’s an old school classic, but when the weather is cold outside a lot of people don’t want to don a running vest, step into the street and go for a jog. The fact of the matter is, though, that this is an effective way to boost cardiovascular fitness and get into a shape, and the feel-good factor is high. Buy some running gear, wrap up a little and get out there. Listen to some music, preferably with a speedy tempo, while you run. You’ll find that your feet follow the music and, as a bonus, you can maybe even further than you originally intended.

Transform the home into a workout zone
If you just can’t bring yourself to get outdoors for a cardiovascular workout, why not get in some fitness equipment such as hand weights to shape up in comfort? Alternatively, you can perform exercises such as burpees and squats, improving your fitness and toning you up at the same time, as well as press ups and stomach crunches which will enhance muscle tone. The press ups will also build strength. Exercising at home has the added benefit of avoiding the stares of curious onlookers while you work!

Make yourself feel like dancing
You don’t have to stick to one particular type of exercise. Instead of slogging it out with the weights or braving the elements on your daily run and nothing else, mix things up a little. If you like dancing, join a dance class. This will work your body differently and, since you enjoy the activity, feel more like fun than exercise. You’re more likely to stick to it.

These are just a few ways to act upon the good intentions of the New Year and get fit easily. Put them to use and watch how climbing the stairs gradually no longer leaves you out of breath.
