Would shopping ’til you drop be a little less evil if you know for every piece you buy another piece is given to someone who can’t afford it and needed it most?
The TOMS Spring/Summer 2015 Collection launch in Manila was not just a launch of beautiful new pairs of shoes, bags and eye wear over a cup of TOMS Roasting Co. Coffee but an eyeopener to the world that such business model of giving back the same amount as you got can be really successful and go a long way #TravelwithTOMSph. From 2,000 pairs in 2006, they have given 35 million pairs of shoes now.
One for One. For every pair of shoes sold one new pair is given to a child in need through a humanitarian organization who incorporates shoes into their community development program. This is the business model and corporate mission of TOMS who had it’s humble beginnings in 2006 started by Blake Mycoskie.
From shoes they now expanded their products to eye wear, coffee and bags which also means they have extended their giving back project not just to shoes but to address the health, education and and economic needs of communities around the world.
To date, TOMS shoe giving initiative has given more than 35 million pairs of shoes in over 75 countries around the world. About 275,000 people around who are visually impaired have their sights restored sight because of each TOMS Eyewear bought. More than 67,000 weeks of safe drinking water have been provided to 7 countries through every purchase of TOMS Roasting Co. Coffee.

I was so moved by this companies advocacy that really shopping for their products would make me less guilty with my spending! Now that is retail therapy! Shop ’til we drop and make this world a better place for everyone. Wouldn’t it be nice if other companies follow suit?
