How to Train Your Dragon 3 (The Hidden World) Movie Review – His and Her Opinion

From DreamWorks Animation comes one of the most beloved animated franchises in film history: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

What does an adult male and female think about the latest franchise? Read on:

What Marcus Think of It? His POV

So, I got confused. About a year ago I saw a trailer for How to Train your Dragon with the white dragon… so I thought that I missed one. But turns out they just advertised it a long time ago. So, this is the 3rd HTTYD movie to reach the theater. That’s quite an accomplishment for an animated film. I think it is for good reason. They do a few things right.

Earth was sitting next to me the whole movie, making cute little noises every time a dragon flashed it’s big eyes. The animators did a good job in making them very animal-like. I think they ‘re leaning towards dog, but there are some other behaviors in there, like birds and cats. But you know this already by now. If you haven’t seen 1-3, go watch those. This is a cute movie, but you will lose a lot if not starting from the beginning.

The storyline is okay. Everything seems fairly well motivated. Good guys trying to do good things and the bad guys need to get rid of the good guys so they can do bad guy things. The romantic element with the dragon was pretty good and clear, but I wasn’t too into the human love story. There is talk about marriage and it just seems like something expected rather than something they want to do. Like 2 friends talking about getting married. Didn’t feel the love.

The end of the movie was a bit extreme. This is something often done in movies. Instead of finding a middle ground, they put these choices on the characters as if they can only pick one side or the other. I guess it makes for more drama, but darn it, two people can fit on a floating door. Okay, but it’s for kids. So, will kids like it? Sure. It’s got dragons and extreme characters riding them. Same formula from last 3 successful movies. This one tires to send a message about believing in yourself, or something. I don’t think it works too well. It gets kind of confused with the romantic element.
So fans, enjoy. If you have kids, enjoy. If you’re wondering if you should be a fan? I would say no. I didn’t love it. The first movie was pretty good, but not enough to carry me enthusiastically through 4 movies. They kind of a drag-on. Hahahah.

What Earth Thinks of it?  Her POV

I always love the How to Train Your Dragon movies, Marcus was dedindefin confused, this was the 3rd franchise only, he didn’t get to see the 2nd one.

Anyway,it never fails to make me feel good inside.  It brings out the kid in me and I love how they make scary looking dragons look really cute and it just brings out the mommy instinct in me. They are so adorable I wanna hug them all!

When a preview or hype was made for the movie a year ago or so, there were people who got offended about giving the Night Furry Toothless a love team ergo giving a supposedly genderless creature sexual preference that they find very off.  Like it’s a kids movie it should be wholesome and they shouldn’t introduce mating and all that real life thing in this loveable wholesome children’s movie.  I did not give an opinion back then because I haven’t seen the entire movie to give judgment.  But now that I have let me just say without having to give any spoilers that mating, coupling and finding your other half is something we should be honest about with our kids because it happens  plus at this day and age I would rather them learn about this in an endearing manner that through the internet or the things other kids tales will say which mostly are misinformation because they’re inexperienced who areare try hard to pretend they are.

Yes ,I read Marcus review up there and he said he didn’t feel the love.  Maybe he was in a mood when he watched or when he wrote his review. But I feel the love in the movie it makes me feel all warm and fussy inside.  I also think because the ending was something he didn’t want or believe in anymore that’s why he said it’s not good.  To me it was a perfect ending for maybe the last of the movie franchise.  I wouldn’t want it to end any other way .

The magic , the drama, the flashbacks , the highs and lows we’re all done in great taste. I almost cried in some parts, almost.  Yes, take your kids to watch How to Train Your Dragon 3 The Hidden World.
