Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbes and Shaw Movie Review – His and Her Opinion

Please stay in your seats up to the very end of the end credits, there are three (3) extra scenes which paves the way for the next movie!  Now you’ve been warned on to our review.

After eight films that have amassed more than $5 billion worldwide, The Fast & Furious franchise now features its first stand-alone vehicle as DWAYNE JOHNSON and JASON STATHAM reprise their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo has swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.

What Earth thinks of it? Her POV

I enjoyed Hobbes and Shaw from beginning to end. There are no dead scenes every bit is a pleasure to watch. I love the editing especially the split screen to show simultaneously the two lead characters. As compared to the past Fast & Furious movie this one has a more fun and funny story telling.  The rapport between Statham and Johnson is just impeccable they may hate each other in the movie but their wit and humor  resonates across the screen.

The movie kinea has some Dead Pool and Jurassic World  kinda feel for me when it. Comes to cinematography. Musical scoring is really good.  The songs they played in the background really works well with the movie.

I recommend you to watch Hobbes and Shaw. I think it’s one of the best Fast & Furious movie.

What does Marcus think of it? His POV

I’ve never been a Fast and Furious fan. Just not that into cars. But I was eager to see this movie, because it looked more like a buddy film than a driving one…and I was right. Though they are not exactly “buddies”, the movie is more about them kicking ass than driving fast…though there was some pretty amazing driving too.

So the good… lots of action, fighting, driving, explosions. All the stuff you wanted to see. On top of that, lots of good laughs. The bad…well, nothing was really bad. You have to go into this movie with an open mind. You have to understand there is going to be some unrealistic stuff for the sake of making a fun movie. So there were a few groaner moments… you know…where you roll your eyes and say “come on”. Some of the motorcycle stuff, accompanied with the transformer sound effect….come on. And they tried to put in a lot of “messages” about family and trust and that sort of thing. It was very, in your face and obvious. The whole tone of the movie changes when they start talking from the heart. Probably insisted on by The Rock, because he generally has a wholesome persona, he wants to promote…. other than the smashing bad guys thing. But at least they are bad guys.

Overall it was a fun movie. I don’t think it matched the Rush Hour or Lethal Weapon kind of connection between the buddies, but maybe it wasn’t meant to. Go watch it and have fun with the over-the-top action sequences.
