The Age Of Stupid Review

I was able to watch The Age Of Stupid worldwide premiere last night and I give it a thumbs up, the documentary movie was well executed.

It preceded with the scene that showed a destroyed Earth.  No more fancy Las Vegas, the Taj Mahal was ruined, and all other favorite places in the world are gone.

There was a voice over while several sights from the ruined planet was shown on the screen leading to a facility of Historical archive where a man was narrating from the year the Earth was destroyed, the year 2055.

Hurricane Katrina, the melting of the glaciers in the Alps in Europe, the situation of migrants in Jordan, and the poor state in Nigeria was shown in the film. How they weave the story to warn us to make the big change in the way we live now to save the planet is astounding.

Consumerism got the best of us it seems. I wish everyone will get the chance to see this movie. The Age of Stupid is a documentary drama animation that is not boring compared to other environmental documentary films out there. Yes it still has the usual scare-you-to-death type of warning about the climate change but it was presented in subtle yet effective way.

After watching the movie I never want to make a “stupid” purchase anymore. My desire to buy new things I really don’t need or lack tamed. I don’t want to buy a new monitor for my computer while the old one is still doing well, I don’t want to buy a new cellphone because my old one is still doing what its suppose to do. I don’t want to shop for new clothes and shoes but instead just recycle whatever I have so I can contribute in my very own little way to save the planet.

I wish I will have the chance to watch it again on it’s Red Carpet Gala Premiere here in Manila on October 13.  Hopefully they will get the regular theater run for this movie so that more people can watch it and get more aware with what we are all doing to our planet Earth.

Greenpeace said the premiere last night was meant for movie critics, bloggers, and media so we can create the buzz about the movie and hopefully get the curiosity going.  I will definitely recommend this movie to my friends at the florida chat lines, I’m sure they will be shocked with the way the kids in the movie perceive Americans.
