Farewell Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett

Despite all the intrigues associated with Michael Jackson, he is truly a pop icon.  I grew up watching him dancing to his music.    Beat it, Thriller, Bad, Billy Jeans, Heal the World, Black or White are just among the songs I can easily recall as I type.  I met him in 1980’s and now hearing his death crushed me in some ways I can’t explain.

TMZ reported this at 5:20PM (EST) Michael Jackson was said to have died of cardiac arrest. Paramedics from 911 were called to his home this afternoon June 26, 2009 (night time in Manila) after the King of Pop stopped breathing. When they arrived at the Los Angeles hospital, he had no pulse and after repeated attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead. He was 50.

Meanwhile, one of our beloved Charlies Angels actress Farrah Fawcet dies of cancer Thursday morning . Fawcett, 62, died at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, nearly three years after being diagnosed with anal cancer. Ryan O’Neal, the longtime companion who returned to her side when she became ill, was with her.

Farrah Fawcett is also an icon especially for the fashion industry with her feathery luscious hairstyle  aside from the many movies and TV shows she did.

Another TV icon dies.  Legendary “Tonight Show” sidekick Ed McMahon has passed away at the age of 86.  Cause of death was not clear as he has complicating health problems that probably lead to his death.

Ed McMahol is the veteran TV personality best known for his nightly introduction of Carson in a deep, booming voice with the drawn-out line, “Heeeeeeeeere’s Johnny!”  He died on June 23 reports said but his death was just publicized now as two Hollywood icons passed away.
