My Barista Experience At Le Bistro

I love blogging, it gives me the courage to fulfill my life desire. The other night I was able to experience being a Barista for a couple minutes.   I was behind a coffee shop bar.   I made my own mochachino drink.  Mixed coffee and chocolate in a cup, frothed some milk, used the super expensive espresso machine (priced like a car!) and did some coffee art (dunno what I made!).   It was fun and honestly I want to take a short course on this and maybe put up my own coffee shop some day!  Maybe you would like to sign-up for their hands-on seminars too and be a Barista for a day.

Barrista lessons at Le Bistro

Le Bistro is such an awesome place.   The venue is so spacious and the ambiance is so wonderful.  It’s not cramped like other coffee shops.  Aside from serving coffee drinks they also have tasty treats for lunch, breakfast or dinner. They even have special menus for special occasions. The interiors was kinda mix of modern and European especially with the huge graphic wall that will greet you as you enter the venue.   I so love it.  I was told you can hold meetings and Christmas parties at Le Bistro it is located at Fraser Place, Valero St. Makati.

Actually we had our Coffee 101 and Espresso 101 seminar with Ms. Chit Juan of the Philippine Coffee Board there.  I learned about the coffee history and myths and the history of coffee in the Philippines.  It is amazing to learn that in the 1880’s we were the 4th largest exporter of coffee in the world but now we couldn’t even sustain our country’s coffee supply that we had to export.  Today, the top coffee suppliers of the world are Brazil, Vietnam, Columbia, Indonesia and India.

Did you know that the Philippines consumes about 65,000 million kilos of coffee every year and our coffee farm can produce half of it.  I think we should take this in a good way since we Filipinos really buy Philippine coffee we consume everything we produce that we had to export. Hah!

The Coffee 101 seminar also taught me about the coffee species and the phases of specialty coffees.  Now I am able to distinguish coffee varieties and the types of roast to use.

The night at Le Bistro was not just packed with great experience and knowledge.  We went home with some goodies from the Echo Store as tokens from attending the seminar.  I love the peppermint smell and taste of the lip balm and the antibacterial hand sanitizer spray they gave us.  It’s so refreshing.

Echo Store stand for Environment & Community Hope Organization STORE. I was told that all their products are eco-friendly, non-toxic, natural or organic and biodegradable.  All the products sold at ECHOstore also helps marginalized communities in the Philippines and most of them are cooperatives engaged in fair trade practices and livelyhood programs.  So if you are planning to buy gifts for your kikay friends or relatives I suggest you buy Christmas gift baskets at Echo Store.  They have stores at Serendra and Podium.
