What if I tell you that with just a click of the mouse you can save marine biodiversity would you be as click happy like you are when you browse Facebook?
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has come up with another innovative way to encourage people to contribute in protecting Philippines marine environment for lifesaving food security via the ‘I Click, I Save campaign.
The I Click, I Save campaign empowers everyone with internet access using a computer arrow clicker as a weapon of choice to save the marine biodiversity.
Mang Embet, was a beneficiary of the WWF projects. During the launch of I Click, I Save campaign hosted by Marc Nelson he told us how WWF change his life from a simple fisherman who just get whatever he can, he is now informed that he can’t do better.
“Ten years ago, I used to eat dolphins,” Mang Embet told us in Filipino. “I didn’t know how precious these creatures were, all we know is as long as they can be eated, its fine,” he elaborates.
“But when WWF came and taught us about the importance of every living thing in the ocean, we don’t just get whatever we can, we now help protect the marine biodiversity. Through this our livelihood doubled.” Mang Embet happily told us.
He said there are more tourist in Donsol that they could handle, but he is not complaining. Mang Embet is now a Butanding Interaction Officer in Donsol.
WWF marine conservation programs from Cagayancillo, Palawan to Donsol, Sorsogon, WWF-Philippines focuses on environmental sustainability as a means to providing for local communities.
The I Click, I Save campaign only accepts credit card donations for now, but by the next months to come options like ATM contributions and SMS contributions will be available.
Marc Nelson also demonstrated that contributing to WWF using your credit card is safe, he was sort of the key man insurance for the launch.
Let’s all do our part in saving our planet!
Stay gorgeous everyone!
