My Green Lantern Movie Review

If you are looking for a good introduction movie about what is the Green Lantern all about then this is the movie you should see. The narration was good as it gave a concise history about the film and those who are not Green Lantern fans or comic geeks would appreciate it.

However, those who expected much about the film were disappointed because there were not enough action scenes in the movie. But women enjoyed the movie because it maximized the exposure of Ryan Reynolds sexy body in the film, especially the one where he is “almost” naked with his white boxers haha!

Anyway, my most favorite “action” scene in the movie was the jet fight scene, and Hal Jordan (Reynolds) wasn’t a Green Lantern yet then.

I think having this shown after Thor and Xmen First Class was a hard act to follow. The action scenes in those movies are unbeatable.

But don’t get disappointed its an okay movie, a good start up point for the upcoming Green Lantern movies to come.

I think the makeup and costume design was great and the script was good not so boring very concise and witty.

Movie Info:
Bringing the enduringly popular superhero to the big screen for the first time, Warner Bros.’ new action adventure “Green Lantern” stars Ryan Reynolds (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) in the title role, under the direction of Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale”).

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Reynolds).

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Campbell directs “Green Lantern” from a screenplay by Greg Berlanti & Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg, story by Greg Berlanti & Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim, based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics.

Sanders (“Revolutionary Road”) as Carl Ferris, Carol’s aircraft designer dad; Temuera Morrison (“Star Wars” Episodes II and III) as Abin Sur, Jordan’s alien predecessor; Taika Waititi (TV’s “The Flight of the Conchords”) as flight navigator Tom Kalmaku, Hal’s good friend and confidante; Jon Tenney as Martin Jordan, Hal’s idolized father; Academy Award® nominee Angela Bassett (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”) as enigmatic government scientist Amanda Waller; and Academy Award® winner Tim Robbins (“Mystic River”) as Hector’s influential father, Senator Robert Hammond.

  1. Actually I’m very disappointed with the film. I got free tickets for a 3d premiere of Green Lantern and I went home craving for action scenes which is necessary for a superhero flick. Instead of action I saw a lot cheesy scenes.

  2. Hi Maroc, people likes looking at hot people, the flesh overcomes the spirit I guess , this world is too shallow.

Hi Pepper yes the movie is a good intro will probably make you excited at the 2nd movie 🙂 Enjoy!

  3. I want to see this too. I’m not familiar with the history of the Green Lantern, but as you say, the movie clearly explains that to non-geeks like me. thanks for the review.

  4. It bothers me that Green Lantern will be a bigger hit than Super 8. The latter is CLEARLY a better movie. I just don’t understand the audience’s fascination with crap. Sure Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are hot but it amazes me that people would pay money to see two gorgeous people who can’t act, over a genuinely well-made movie like Super 8. Just sad.
