Filipino Couture Barbie For Auction To Benefit Ballet Philippines

How much are you willing shell out for a very rare collectors item Barbie doll clad in Filipino couture?

Margie Moran-Floirendo, our Ms. Universe and Ballet Philippines President believes P6,000 for the short dresses, P8,000 for the long gowns and P10,000 for the multi-media designs is a respectable amount to begin with the bid to  show your support for Filipino designers, Filipino Ballet Dancers, and our beloved fashion icon and childhood friend Barbie.

Top Filipino Designers in the country were tapped for this project they called Ballet Barbie, a fundraising project of Ballet Philippines, which is now on its 40th year, for the benefit of their dedicated dance scholars.

Each of the Filipino couture-clad Barbie doll will be auctioned off on March 17, 2010 in the Rigodon Ballroom of the Peninsula Manila Hotel. There will be two simultaneous auction that will happen and one will be hosted by Tessa Prieto-Valdez and John Silva.

To make the auction more exciting, and to showcase the Ballet Philippines dance scholars talent, a dance presentation will regale the guests once every beautifully dressed and styled doll is exhibited and auctioned.

Margie Moran-Floirendo, Ballet Philippines’ president, said the idea for the project was first discussed with the designers in an elaborate 7-course dinner hosted by her and Mr. and Mrs. Liechenstein called “Ballet, Barbie, and Bulli.”

Each designers were given five dolls each to work with by Richwell Trading Corporation, the Philippines’ sole distributor of Mattel™ toys. They have the reign to conceptualize their Ballet Barbie collections which resulted in a diverse, exciting, and unique lineup of Filipino couture-clad collector’s item Barbie dolls.

For those who want to support Ballet Philippines and seriously covet these one of a kind creations, a special preview of the Ballet Barbie exhibit will occur on March 15, 2010, from 10 AM to 5 PM, at the Arts in the City Building in Fort Bonifacio, Global City.

I love these collection: Rajo’s, Moreno’s, Quinones’, Buendia’s and Peralta’s. Now, if I only have that much moolah, I’d be more than willing to bid on these gorgeous pieces!
