Here are my wonderful simple to follow tips on how not to stress on your Christmas preparations and celebration.
I am assuming you have decorated your homes already, so I will leave the decoration alone but if you still haven’t decorated get up you lazy butt! (Teasing) I would rather rattle you right now than later you know. Follow this schedule and you won’t get stressed on your Christmas preparations ever!
December 1-6 (1st week of December)
Do an inventory: Go through your stuff in the pantry and storage rooms to see if you have enough plates, cutlery, dishes, glasses, decorations and even gifts you can recycle and give away. List down all you need before heading to the stores. If possible sneak your gift list while you’re at it.
Do a general cleaning: It is so much fun decorating and inviting guest over when you have a clean home so make sure to dedicate a day with all member of the household for a general clean-up especially at the common areas like the living room, dining room and the bathroom.
December 7-13 (2nd week of December)
Plan your menu and make a list of all the ingredients you needed. Keep the list handy and buy the non-perishable ones as soon as you can to lighten your load doing the groceries later for the perishable goods.
Start shopping for gifts now and have them wrapped at the store since the lines at the wrapping section isn’t that long yet compared to doing your gift shopping just a week before Christmas. If you have time and talented at gift wrapping you can still wrap them yourself for a more personalized touch.
December 14-20 (3rd Week of December)
Since you’ve done your groceries earlier and gift shopping earlier, you can sit and relax now and just worry about the fresh meat you need for the Christmas dinner.
Buy the fresh meat you need on the 20th or 21st and not a day before. It’s really practical since prizes skyrocket a day or two before Christmas. Store the meat in the freezer to keep their freshness. Fresh vegetables can be stored upto 6 days so you can buy them now too.
12 noon before the Christmas Dinner
You can do the slicing and dicing of your ingridients, meats, vegetables, onions, tomatos, garlic and anything that needs slicing. You can cook those food that should be served cold, like deserts. Cook those food that takes hours to prepare. Then cook the main dishes two hours before dinner and just re-heat if needed.
Now that’s not a hard schedule to follow right?
