Why Burping An Infant Is Important

Baby colic occurs to almost every infant in the world. There was a time when I was not familiar with this term and all I thought was my daughter was being fussy without any reason. I just thought she was trying to manipulate me or distress me in any way she can. But I was wrong and I was mean to think about it that way.

She was being colicky, which means she is suffering from baby colic, baby gas, or baby reflux. Although there are no known cause of baby colic, some think its caused by intolerance of either cow’s milk or soy milk due to protein allergy, immaturity of the gastrointestinal system, immaturity of their central nervous system. Since a child cannot actually tell of their discomfort all they do is cry and they cry vigorously despite attempts to soothe them. Their inability to communicate causes a difficult infant temperament that sometimes a cause of parent-infant interaction problems consisting of the transfer of parent anxiety to the infant and the inability of the infant to give clear clues about the needs to the caregiver.

Baby reflux is what happens when a child did not spit up after feedings since reflux is a normal process that occurs from time to time to everyone particularly after meals. Reflux or gastro esophageal reflux is the backward flow of stomach contents into the esophagus and what causes future health problems for infants is when that instead of the refluxed material going out of the mouth it parts way. Some children may swallow back down the refluxate instead of spitting or vomiting.

One thing that can help lessen a child’s irritability is to make a baby burp after every feeding. although this works usually there are times when we cannot soothe our child and it can be very devastating for the entire household.

I wish this Colic Calm Homeopathic Medicine was around during the first few months of my motherhood so that those frustrating nights we had when she is so distressed did not occur.
