DPWH Sec. Hermogenes Ebdane On World Bank Issue

Last Thursday a couple of bloggers had an opportunity to meet one of the most controversial personalities in the present administration, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane. I was actually a little hesitant to attend but I can’t say no to the good people of Yehey.com. My blog is not a political blog although I posted about the 2010 aspiring presidents of the country, and some other political issues, it doesn’t mean I endorse or support any side, I post for the sake of ranting and informing my readers if they can pick anything from it.

Anyway, the date with Sec. Ebdane started at almost 4pm and ended at 7pm where we witness a call announcing the death of his undersecretary at DPWH for Luzon, Ramon H. Aquino. It was an awkward moment, calls were made, after that the secretary sat on our table with a smile and a joke that is very meant “First I would like to inform you, I don’t know how to operate computers.”

He said this was the first time he met bloggers he coined as “young people” that he can’t relate to. But by talking to bloggers Ebdane wishes to reach out to the youth who are poisoned with negativity that pulls the country down instead of positivity to help the country rise. Bloggers shapes the way people views the world, according to his PR, ergo the invite to meet him.

Edbane said “This is the first time I am not prepared,” But for manipulating an hour talking about his military principles and the discipline he learned from it that he applies on his life daily, I think he is very much prepared. We actually forgot the questions we prepared for him so maybe a repeat is necessary!

Anyway we were able to ask him about the World Bank controversy, the alleged collusion of contractors and the involvement of the First Gentleman Mike Arroyo. “I only deal with the President the First Gentleman has not talked to me about any of these projects.”
