When my daughter was still an infant, I had a hard time putting her to sleep at night. Even if I got her sleep for awhile her sleep is not continuous and it was stressing me a lot that time. Because of that I become very impatient a stressed and it was not a pleasant stage of my life.
Getting a good night sleep contributes a lot to the overall health of both parents and children. Lack or insufficient sleep will make one irritable child and adult. But most importantly it impedes a child’s growth and development.
Sleep problem is a universal problem that is why Johnson and Johnson made a sleep study to see what can help babies and parents get a good night sleep and establish a baby bedtime routine that will be beneficial for everyone’s well-being.
The sleep study is a clinical evaluation of baby’s sleep with the use of before bed routine and the Johnson’s Baby Bedtime Range. It was held in the US by Psychologist and Pediatric Sleep Expert Jodi Mindel. The Johnson’s sleep study was held for 3 weeks with 58 mothers as participants and their baby with age range of 7-18 months.
The Routine Before Bed is the time that will allow you to put your baby down for bed within 30 minutes after their bath.
Result of the study was outstanding moms included in the study reported:
- 37% reduction in sleep onset latency
- 49% decrease in duration of night waking
- 23% increase in longest continuous sleep period
- 55% decrease in maternal fatigue
- 56% decrease in tension and anxiety
With this Baby Bedtime Discoveries Johnson’s developed a 3 Steps Baby Bedtime Routine using their products to help baby growth using the science of sleep.
Step 1 is doing a warm bath or “punas” (using the Johnson’s baby wash)
- the bath will signal your baby that she is on her way to beth.
- use warm water couple with the gentle, lathering touch will soothe the baby
Step 2 is doing a Massage (using Johnson’s baby lotion)
- the soothing steady motion of the massage helps baby relax ecen more
Step 3 Some Quiet Time (using Johnson’s baby powder)
- Spend some quiet light activities with your baby singing lullabies etc. which will drift her off to sleep.
- Most moms always put powder right after diaper change to keep baby comfortable during the night
