Parent Orientation

For some parent who’s kid is already attending a regular school feel this kind of stuff is common.  However to me and I guess the many parents who have a CWA child or a special child as a kid this is something special.  I’ll be attending another parent orientation at my daughter’s school tomorrow.  Matter concerning the school’s education programs and policies will be discussed.  It sounds intimidating but I am kinda excited.

I was given the memo/ letter of the meeting by my daughter’s teacher and the memo includes a “parent-school contract of agreement” which is something I have never heard in my life ever maybe because they are something I think are common sense and also because I’m a first time parent.  But of course it is always better to put rules and laws in writing.

Here are some of the by-laws:

1) Parents/guardians and visitors are not allowed to talk to the teacher and tho their child during sessions unless an appointment is obtained from the principal.

2) Please do not send your child to school if he is ill (e.g. flu, diarrhea, bad cough or colds, fever, etc.)

3) Personally introduce the yaya(s), helper(s) or driver of your child to his/her teacher.  Inform your child’s teacher regarding who will fetch your child from school everyday.

4) Children are not allowed to wear jewelries, bring toys, or bring home toys from school.

5) Children are not allowed to bring junk food (candies, chippies, soft drinks) inside the classroom.

I have a problem with the fifth one here.  There is a store beside the waiting area and they sell junk food, candies and soft drinks, my daughter run straight to this store all the time, even other children.  Maybe they should prohibit this store from selling junks too right?  I think I will bring up this one on the meeting tomorrow.
