I love to eat seriously! But would you believe me if I say that the food would be the last thing on my mind whenever I visit a resto? Of course not. Food is the reason to visit a resto right? especially for foodies. But to me the whole experience of the resto is more important that the food alone.
For a great foodie experience I look for the following factors:
1. Ambiance
It is a big factor for me when I visit a new resto/cafe/foodie hangout if the place has nice interiors and ambiance. Clean environment, nuce furnishings, lighting, table setup, presentation. The place is pretty enough for ‘grammers like me to shot every nook and cranny of the place. It is more pleasing to eat if the place looks good. First impressions lingers longer. If you just feel good being in a restaurant/cafe/ food hangout itself, there is a greater guarantee that you will come back for seconds, thirds and fourths or yeah become a regular and recommend the place to friends, colleagues and everyone in your social circle. That’s good business!
2. Service.
I am observant of servers/staff behaviors so much I rate them on the following friendliness, efficiency, attentiveness and grooming. No matter how nice a resto looks like or no matter how great tasting the food is, if the servers are snob, slow and unkept well, it is a major turn-off. If it takes them forever to serve my food I may too pissed to appreciate the food no matter how great the chef is.
I was once at a very popular high end resto at the BGC area, it was popular for their good food and ambiance, but when I got there it took them forever to serve my food like an hour and a half after we ordered. I was so pissed. When my food got to me I did not appreciate it that much. All because theh set me in a bad mood already and my hunger has passed.
Another resto in Clark I was in just impressed me with the kind of servers they have. Albeit the ambiance was so so, and lighting was bad, we decided to go to their outdoors area. It was a windy day and there were flies everywhere. However, the servers were very attentive and efficient. Food was served immediately, they stood behind us all the time and even before we said it they were shooing the flies away. Even before we could ask it what we need was served right away, like when they saw we need extra serving spoon for our to-share food. We just ate our hearts out and enjoyed the food and the experience so much. We all think they have the best service ever and the best sisig too! This is at Salt Resto at Widus Clark.
3. Price.
Unless it is a super duper very important occassion that I need to impress someone or I want a me time to eat super delicious food no matter how much it costs (yes there are days like that), I look for a restaurant with a reasonable and competitive pricing of their menu. I don’t want to pay for something that will not even fill me up or some so so tasting dish that will cost me a week food allowance.
4. Food.
Yes it is last on my list. I went to a restaurant anyway because I already know what I want to eat or I know I have to eat or need to eat. The menu selection is secondary, might explore some other dish if something in the menu caught my eyes. Of course taste and freshness of the ingredients used is very important. If something in the food exceeds my expectation would be a plus.
If a resto gets all these 4 things going, a customer will definitely have a great foodie experience.
Did I miss out on something?
Oh! Location, while it is best to have your resto at an accessible area, some foodie adventurer will not mind going the extra milr if all four factors I mentioned above are met. Right?
Do you agree or disagree let me know! I want to know how you rate your great foodie experience at the comment section below!
