We all know that sitting behind a desk, stooped over a computer for hours is not exactly healthy and Del Monte thinks so, too.
To emphasize the importance of fitness, the manufacturer of healthy food products launched an unconventional campaign dubbed as Del Monte Dare to be Fit ‘N Right last night October 23, 2009 at Taste Asia, in SM Mall of Asia.
During the launch, sports scientist and master coach Jim Saret lectured about the Science of Loosing Weight and Getting Fit and taught the select bloggers who attended the event a four (4) minute and two (2) minute workout strategy that is guaranteed to burn calories and the way to a fit body.
The FIT workout is characterized by fast bursts of intensive exercise that enables one to burn at least 400 calories in a span of only four minutes. I was one who those who volunteered to try this FIT workout and I promised coach I will try to do this everyday!
However, he emphasized that exercise is not enough to keep one fit. Saret, who obtained an MS Sports Science degree in Brigham Young University in the United States, stressed the importance of proper nutrition – cutting down on fatty foods and eating more vegetables and fruits.
Saret said a fitness program doesn’t work well unless one cuts down on calorie intake.
A person who runs a 42-kilometer marathon burns only about 2,600 calories or 62 calories per kilometer. On the other hand, a 150-pound person who merely lies in bed burns about 1,800 calories a day.
If burning calories is difficult, gaining them is as easy as putting on a pair of shoes—the combination of a fastfood sandwich, large fries, a cup of ice cream and a large glass of soda is equal to 2,300 calories.
Del Monte Fit ‘N Right helps the body burn calories and fat faster. It contains L-Carnitine, a substance that is naturally found in the human body. L-Carnitine transports the fatty acids into the mitochondria, the cell’s powerhouse where they are burned into energy needed for a healthy heart and other important body functions.
If L-Carnitine levels are increased, the body’s ability to oxidize fat is optimized. With supplementary L-Carnitine, proper diet and regular exercise, one can achieve ideal body weight and ensure a healthy life.
Del Monte Fit ‘N Right also contains Vitamin B1, B6 and B12 that helps speed up metabolism, resulting in faster weight loss. Vitamins B1, B6 and B12 are energy boosters and increases endurance by facilitating the conversion of carbohydrates, protein and fat into energy that is needed by the body in performing physical functions. It also contains natural fruit juice that provides the body with 100 percent of its RDA.
Although the FIT method was designed by physiologists and trainers specifically for individual athletes, it is also ideal for non-athletes—or those who simply want to lose weight effectively.
Making Fit ‘N Right an integral part of one’s diet is a surefire way to lose weight and keep fit. A clinical study led by Dr. Leonora Panlasigui of the University of the Philippines found that a person loses as much as 16.7 percent of body fat in just six weeks with regular consumption of Fit ‘n Right, diet and exercise.
Although packed with vitamins and L-Carnitine, Fit ‘N Right is delicious and refreshing, so making it a habit is both fun and guiltless.
And Del Monte will make the whole fitness campaign fun with several activities that will culminate with a fun run on Nov. 22 at the SM Mall of Asia. Official call race time is 4 a.m. at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
