“The world needs science…Science needs women.” Whachatink?
According to the data provided during the L’Oreal First Women In Science Launch that despite having an equal amount of university degree-holders worldwide are women only 30% of them pursue a career are in the field of science and technology.
In the 109 years of existence of the Nobel Prizes in science, only 2.9% of the Nobel Laureates are women.
With that in mind, L’Oréal, the worldwide leader in cosmetics, and UNESCO, a specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes international collaboration through education, science and culture, brings one of the most prestigious international programs, For Women in Science (FWIS) in the Philippines. The event was held at Makati Shangrila Hotel hosted by Karen Davila.
FWIS is the first of its kind to devote international awards to women in science, and is vigorously promoting excellence among young women scientists worldwide for more than a decade. It has become one of the most anticipated annual events in the scientific community in more than 93 countries.
