Earth Day 2013 – Face Of Climate Change – Recycling Projects

Every person who does his or her part to fix the problem is also a Face of Climate Change: the entrepreneurs who see opportunity in creating the new green economy, the activists who organize community action and awareness campaigns, the engineers who design the clean technology of the future, the public servants who fight for climate change laws and for mitigation efforts, the ordinary people who commit to living sustainably.

Every year on April 22, more than one billion people take part in Earth Day. Across the globe, individuals, communities, organizations, and governments acknowledge the amazing planet we call home and take action to protect it.

Earth Day 2013: The Face of Climate Change

Climate change has many faces.

Doing my part to save the planet and minimize the impact of Climate Change. I decided to make my own Earth Day Projects where I recycle things I collected in the past from the events and gifts I got from blogging but I did not throw in the garbage yet. I am not so much into disposing everything that I am not yet using as I always think I can find a way to use them again in the future. I’m not being a pack rat, I’m just conscious with what I throw in the garbage so I don’t contribute to the pile of trash we have in the world that makes our planet Earth suffer.

Here’s some Earth Day Recycling Projects I did:

Since I started this blog or rather since people started reading my blog and it got so unimaginably popular, I’ve been getting a lot of gifts from everywhere. With gifts comes pretty gift boxes that I refuse to throw away, because they are so pretty I know I can reuse them! Just like the boxes from the Aqua and AAdore Fragrances with a transparent plastic cover.

I made these boxes organizers/ containers for my nail polishes, sunglases/sunnies, art materials and accessories!

I absolutely have no idea how to dispose off this transparent plastic box for the Nivea UV Whitening Serum I got , plastic waste are the harshest one on the environment!

An idea dawned on me and so I turned it to a cube photo frame for my daughter’s pictures!

recycled the transparent plastic box of the Nivea Whitening Seru,
I also transformed hollow gift boxes into file box/ file organizer for my daughter’s homework and other school files.

Recycled the press releases I got by punching a whole using a puncher, fastening it on a folder to make my daughter her doodle/activity notebook! The backside of the press releases are always clean so I can use them again!

I feel bad that some PR need to print out press releases use fancy papers and folders too just to be thrown away. I already suggested using USB storage or just email the press release to those attending or attended the event but the PR agencies are not picking that one up. Some started like that late last year but did not push through with it and continue using print materials on their press kit. Saddening. So in case you get one and your file is piling up, make them like these! And when they are all used you can also recycle them by making paper out of paper too!

The toughest to get rid off are CDs from the press kit distributed at events or included in the press gifts I get from my PR friends. I don’t throw them away and was thinking of a way to reuse them.

I’m glad I thought about making curtains and table covers out of the CDs I collected since 2009! Geez I saw a CD from the first ever blog event I attended in February 2004, The Clear Black Night Event by Clean and Clear at Taste Asia at SM MOA!

I hope those who will read this will find inspiration into doing their own Earth Day projects and be a Face of Climate Change too. Please take time in doing a simple act of recycling or saving energy or maybe planting a seed or recycling water. It will help a lot!
