When I was pregnant eons ago, strawberries and potatoes were two of my food cravings. There’s this belief that our bodies crave for nutrients we lack, so my body must have been lacking quality carbohydrates, potassium and other key vitamins and minerals.
Potatoes actually have a lot of nutritional value that are especially beneficial, not just for adults and pregnant women, but for highly energetic school-age kids as well.
Did you know that the super spud are packed with vitamin C that helps boost immunity? They also contain Vitamin B6 that helps improve cognitive function. And of course carbohydrates and potassium that are crucial for energy boost and muscle-building.
With that said, it is just right to start a meal plan that will include potatoes in our kids’ daily meals to make sure they reach their full potential.
Here are my recommended delicious dishes with potatoes as main ingredient that I’m sure our kids will love:
Appetizers / Snacks: Potato Salad, Mashed Potato with different topping, Mojos with dip, Hash brown and Criss-cut fries.
Main Course: Add big chunks of potatoes in your Adobo, Kaldereta, Menudo, Mechado and Pochero; and small diced potatoes in stir-fried Giniling.

Preparing and portioning your potatoes are a step towards healthier and happier kids. It’s time for them to learn that there’s so much more to power snacking and right eating than just avoiding sweets.
