Fresh Talents At MTV Emerge

MTV Emerge is a platform for unsigned music talent in the Philippines to showcase their work and to be given an opportunity to win a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music.

This project is an MTV, Jeepney Music, and Department of Tourism collaboration that not only aims to hunt for the hottest unsigned music talent from all genres of music (indie, rock, hip-hop, R&B, metal, solo artists, DJs, etc), but to become the ultimate online music community where new music from the Philippines can be discovered.

Seven grand winners will be selected from the top entries on November 20, 2009 and will win a 1 year recording contract with Jeepney Music and mentorship of Apl.de.Ap . The contract includes artist management and promotion, digital distribution of 3 – 6 songs and a strategic marketing plan for the signed artists to break into both the Philippines and international markets.

Jeepney Music is created by Apl.de.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas. It was not just a record label but Apl.de.Ap’s means to give back back to the Philippines and the globe by means of promoting living histories from the Philippines.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is the Philippine government agency responsible for encouraging, promoting and developing tourism as a major socio-economic activity, spreading its benefits to sectors of society. DOT’s current marketing slogan, 7,107 islands beyond the usual, highlights amazing Philippine destinations and activities.
