Last year, 2009 Earth Hour had 10 million Filipino’s participating in 647 major cities and towns that switched-off their lights. At least 611MWh of power was saved.
Imagine if we invite our kids to participate by unplugging and playing outdoors in an hour! Unplug and Play Outdoors!
On March 27, 2010 WWF together with Mead Johnson will host the first Kids Earth Hour that will be held in three different venues simultaneously.
The Kids Earth Hour’s vision is to encourage parents and kids to unplug all electronics and play outdoors even for one day and not just turn off their lights like the usual Earth Hour we know.
Earth Hour has been a running program of WWF which is a symbolic act to inspire humanity to mitigate the effects of climate change by simply turning off your lights for an hour.
This time we encourage parents to take their kids outside to play as we await the switch-off time which is from 8:30PM to 9:30PM worldwide.
Kids Hour will be held at three venues starting 6PM
- the 3rd level of Trinoma
- SM Mall Of Asia open grounds
- Bonifacio Global City open grounds
There will be loads of activities for kids to enjoy
- Pluggy, Velcro Man and Cosplayers will be all over the event venue to entertain kids
- Pocket Games
- Hopscotch
- Hop Ball
- Earth Walk
- Free Play
- Trampoline
- Rocky Mountain
- Spider Web
- Human Parachute
- Swim Balls
- Shaddow Play which will be held during the Earth Hour
- Glowstick Activity – Each kids will be given a glowstick they can use during the switch off period.

If you can’t come in any of the following venues since not everyone is from Metro Manila, there will be Earth Hour celebrations in 1000 cities and municiplities in the country that will be held simultaneously. You can join those events or you can have an hour of play without electronics at your backyard, frontyard or indoors. Shaddow plays will be nice. WWF expects 1 billion participants worldwide with 15 million coming from the Philippines.
This is an open event everyone with their kids can come. Registration starts at 6PM at the venue.
But if you need electronic invites or physical invites you can leave your email address or we can meet up so I can give you some.

I agree with ria, involving kids is a good way to invest in a cause.

I so love this event. I even made a post about this in my blog. Dapat tlga we teach children to conserve energy since sila rin man ang magbenefit in the long run. A child must not always live by the PSP, TV, or Lappy.
