Before Typhoon Ondoy hit Metro Manila and nearby provinces, I was at a Food and Wine event by Fuego Hotels and Properties and the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy, the Flavors of Spain ’09 which is now on it’s 7th year.
The Flavors of Spain aspire to strengthen the connection between the gastronomical delights and customs of Spain. To let simple Spanish cuisines bring delight to the spirit.
The event was held at Tower Club in Makati and graced by foreign dignitaries, diplomats, Manila society and Fuego Hotel’s corporate clients and friends.
We sampled generous servings of Spanish treats and wines from the participating exhibitors and savored an array of mouth-watering Spanish cuisines prepared by Chef Mikel Arruiz and the wonderful chefs of the Tower Club and wines courtesy of Wine Depot. Here’s a post about the food and the wines!
A stunning performance of Flamenco dancing by the Clara Ramon Danza de Flamenco. While lucky guest won accommodations to Feugo destinations like Taal Vista Hotel, Pearl Farm Beach Resort, Club Punta Fuego and 7Stones Boracay suites, and a round-trip ticket to Kalibo via Philippine Airlines among others. Everyone left with tote bags filled with goodies from Heno de Pravia and Chupa Chups.
THE CHEF
Chef Mikel Arruiz showcasing the Jamon Iberico a special ham the Spaniards prepare for special occasions only. It’s so delightfully delicious! Spain has the best cold cuts I’ve ever tasted in my entire life, but this one was the best among the best!
