I Tried Winema First! The First Interactive Cinema In The Philippines

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I was among the first hundred people who tried Winema, the first interactive cinema in the Philippines.

We were all wrong with our speculations about what a 4D cinema would be like, or what is Winema like.  I was among those who was amused and surprised that it was not like the 4D cinema I know.  The seats weren’t shaking, there were no splash of water or anything like that of the 4D theater in Disneyland or Enchanted Kingdom.

Winema is an interactive cinema gaming turning cinema goers into human joysticks.  Movie audience will be the one to maneuver the character on screen left and right by waving their arms in the air according to the direction they want it to follow.  The Winema game last for 3 minutes so the players/movie goers will have to accumulate as much points during that period.  The group of movie audience who gets to beat the highest score wins a token each.

We were told that the real 4D movie experience can be experienced at the orchestra where the seats vibrate but we were not a privy to that, maybe they plan another event for the 4D experience for the Iron Man 2 premiere (I hope I get invited, fingers crossed!).

I had fun at the Winema game because the audiences with me are game and fun.  The question is what if the audience are boring and don’t want to participate?

Anyway, that’s not my problem and their problem at all because Winema was made for corporate and movie premiere events as they encourage advertising in Winema.  They encourage advertiser and companies who want to hold events to customize the game and products to be included in the game, they can even incorporate their own concept.

SM Winema will be initially available in SM Megamall Cinema 1 but expect more Winema in different SM Cinemas nationwide.
