It was just a month ago when I posted about the call for the professionalization of the makeup artist industry in the country by one of the most respected practitioners in the country Tony Galvez who also got his own school for this profession. Some feel this will alienate those who practice the profession but did not have the formal training or certification.

The group was founded in October 2013 by Kookie Guzman-Sandejas, Chiqui Ortiz Dingcong and Eena Tejero who felt there is a need to give the makeup artistry in the country the respect it needed. They will have a grand launch in March at the Robinsons Magnolia.

If you are interested to become a member you may send an email to membership.umap@gmail.com with the subject: membership application. Please include the following in your email:
- Resume
- Make Up School Certificate (if applicable) and
- 5 photos (maximum) of your best work.
- They will get back to you within 24 hours once we receive your email.
There are different levels of membership like so don’t be afraid to send your application, if you didn’t attend professional training they have the means to cross reference your portfolio. The makeup artist industry in the country is so small that almost everyone know each other.
If you want to know more about the United Make-Up Artists of the Philippines (UMAP) you make like their page on Facebook here.

i’m really interested in courses like this especially now that I have to constantly wear make up at work. I used to really patiently watch youtube videos of tutorials just to get a ounce of info for make-upping 🙂
