It’s a known secret that most imported popular footwear brands in the world are Philippine made. I know a couple of brands who actually have their shoes made in Marikina then shipped abroad to be re-branded. Its not a bad thing but it will be definitely good for the country if this is openly told and not a hush-hush thing. When I hear of a brand who courageously flaunt that they are Philippine made, I am very much proud and will definitely be glad to support them all the way.
Honestly, I haven’t heard of Caribbean Footwear until last Thursday, April 4, 2013, when I attended Caribbean Urban Safari Summer Collection 2013 at Red Mango in Greenbelt 3. I was surprised to learn that they are proudly Filipino made and that in-fact the manufacturers were previously the creators of the flipflop /footwear brands we love from Brazil!
Product Info (Anatomy of a Caribbean Footwear)

Product Shots:
If you notice, my nail polish chapped already from swimming but the design in my flipflop is still as bright as new! I also like that the flipflop is not flat compared to others it conforms to the shape of your feet
Believe it or not, I’d slip more often barefooted than with these flipflops on!
- I am very much impressed. I have tried almost all the flipflop brands local and imported in the market and this one has good quality. In fact Caribbean Footwear is at par with my other favorite imported FlipFlop brand Ipanema when it comes to quality of the material and the comfort it gives the wearer.
- I tested the no fade design they promised and well so far so good the design and the color is still as vivid when it was brand spanking new.
- It is definitely no slip. I was wearing it around the tiled pool area during my staycation reuinion with my BFFs this weekend and it didn’t failed me. In fact walking barefooted was far more dangerous and slippery compared to wearing this flip flop around the pool area.
- I love that it conforms to the shape of my very curved foot.
- It is very comfortable to wear.
- I have yet to see how long before the strap breaks (but I hope it won’t) as I have three Havaianas that snapped straps after a month using (very disappointing)!
Do I recommend Caribbean Footwear?
Absolutely. I don’t see any reason not to get one or more. The price is very affordable ranging from Php120.00 to Php320.00 a pair. You can hoard as much flip flop designs as you want. Next to quality, comfort will always be on top of my priority whenever I buy a new piece of clothing or footwear. Design will be secondary. With Caribbean I get all three at the same time.
Like I said when I started this post, Caribbean launched their Urban Safari Summer 2013 Collection which is available in your favorite department stores nationwide. They have designs for men and women which you can see below.
Stay gorgeous everyone!

while i was reading your review, it seemed like it has similarity with ipanema’s and confirmed it upon reading further. 🙂 will surely try this, cheap pa! 🙂
I’m not big on flipflops, but these look really nice! Would definitely be checking them on my next trip to the dept. store 🙂 Filipino-made brands ftw!
Ahahaha! Thanks Ane nalurkey naman ako dun. I also have high arch eh so this one is very comfy!
Woot! 😀 You’ve got nice legs! 😀
I have not tried this brand of flip flops, I rarely wear flip flops because believe it or not, my feet ache when I wear flip flops because my feet have high arches, so when you said this conforms to the shape of your feet, I am sold. Wow, and so very affordable, and you say it is at par with Ipanema, how cool. 😀
I have also experienced straps breaking with Havaianas, so annoying, for its price, you’d think it would last longer. o.O
Will definitely check this brand out when I get the chance.
Since it’s Filipino made we should patronize it lovely designs!
