On-Campus Fashion Trends

Preparing for college requires new books, living arrangements, and even new clothes. For the recent high school graduate, college may be a time to reinvent yourself, to try a more mature wardrobe, and to express yourself in ways your parents never allowed. You’ve finally got your opportunity to cast off the sophomoric trends of high school, for the free thinking, wild style of college.

Dressing for Success
You don’t want to be dressed head-to-toe in pink leather and fishnets when you meet your psych professor for the first time. Despite how open minded college professors can be, an outfit this outrageous can cause you to stick out like a sore thumb. In order to be judged for your aptitude and intelligence, avoid shockingly outrageous clothing when attending class.
Instead, dress professionally. If it wouldn’t be allowed in an office, don’t wear it to the classroom. That isn’t too say you can’t express yourself through your clothing choices, you still have plenty of options. For example, if tight leather is a huge part of your personal style, why not tone it down by sticking to one leather piece per outfit? You could wear a tight leather jacket, with a button down top, and a pair of tailored pants.

From Class to a Campus Party
Sometimes there’s no time to change before a campus event. You don’t want to wear your boring class frocks to a campus mixer, but you don’t have time to stop at the dorms either. Try to dress in layers, allowing for the option of removing a jacket or button up, to expose the cute tank-top or t-shirt underneath.
Chambray tops are perfect for the layered look. These printed fabric button ups look sophisticated under sweaters, but can be decidedly sexy when that sweater is removed. For long-sleeve button ups, you can unbutton a few of the top buttons, once you’ve left the classroom. This top is perfect for night and day, especially when paired with a little black sweater. Easy on, easy off.
Don’t be afraid to stick a pair of stiletto heels in your backpack or locker, to change into, once you’ve left the classroom. If there’s no room in your back pack, consider a pair of neutral pumps that travel from night to day with ease.

Sorority Style
There are a lot of jeans and t-shirt choices to be made in college. Whether you’re the relaxed type who prefers this look or the college rush new to your sorority, you’ll want to get familiar with some college t-shirt trends. You can wear your t-shirts like a normal person, or you can flip them and cut them like a true campus cutie.
If you want a little sun on your shoulders, consider rolling up the sleeves of your Greek t-shirt for a decidedly vintage look. This ‘50’s greaser style is so cute on a college girl. You could take it a step further by trimming the sleeves completely off and creating yourself a loose-fitting tank top.
If you’re wondering where to pick up your Greek goodies, in order to sport this loyal look, check out Greek Gear’s Paraphernalia. They have everything from Greek tees to sweaters to branded gear. You’ll be showing your sorority pride in a very stylish way.

It’s Up To You
College is a time to learn personal responsibility, meet goals, and learn everything you can about yourself. This is your time to shine, so the best style advice is to simply be yourself. Whether you’re a fun loving Greek girl or an ultra-serious workaholic, find yourself in your clothing and you’ll feel good every day.

Stay gorgeous everyone!
