Premature Campaigning Welcome Here! The 2010 Presidential Election Circus

I think premature campaigning is great since we can have a sneak preview of the people running for the highest position and live a lavish, yet hectic life in the Malacañang Palace for a couple of years. Of course all of them would promise us now the reform in the government we want and a better economy, more jobs, food in everyone’s plate, and better health care programs. It’s better that we know who are the people to watch for as the big date comes to see if they will be consistent in the platform they will shove to us when the real campaign period start and while it’s still the premature campaigning period.

February 2010, that’s the official date to campaign for those hopefuls to be the president of the Philippines. But two years before the awaited date, (even earlier than that) echoes of who’s going to run for the 2010 Presidential Election is already an issue everyone awaits.

Senator Miriam Santiago, who once a hopeful president of my country, is fuming over the premature campaigning prevalent as soon as 2008 opens asked Chairman Jose Melo of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to make a categorical ruling on what constitutes “premature campaigning” that is prohibited by the Omnibus Election Code.

Santiago said endorsers usually argue that there is no premature campaigning because they have not yet filed their certificates of candidacy. The argument have reached the Supreme Court.

“That argument is specious. Can they look at themselves in the mirror and say the same thing? They were never commercial endorsers before they became senators,” she said.

The office everyone they all want to occupy
Santiago did not give name but among the product endorsers eyeing the 2010 presidential elections include Senate President Manuel Villar Jr., for Hapee toothpaste, the Nacionalista Party and the help line for overseas Filipino workers; Sen. Loren Legarda, for Black Shop, Lucida-DS and Luntiang Pilipinas; Sen. Manuel Roxas 2nd for Tide; Sen. Francis Escudero, for Circulan and Instituto Santre; Sen. Panfilo Lacson, for Facial Care Center; and Sen. Richard Gordon, for Safeguard.

Some of those mentioned above did not admit yet about their desire to run for president in 2010. Although people are getting suspicious because some of their staff (with their blessings of course) have sneaked their way into campaigning them in some of the most popular social networking site in the Philippines and the Blogosphere. However, two of them like Villar and Fernando have blunt fully admitted their bid for the 2010 elections is a sure thing.

Here are the list of the 2010 Presidential hopefuls I’ve gathered. I would suggest to all Filipino in the world to take a look at their blogs and social networking sites, read their bio-data so that you can have a grasp of what kind of person will be the next president of our beloved country. We all know now based on our experiences that we should choose wisely or suffer some more bad consequences.

So without any furthere ado the 2010 presidential hopefuls:

Aside from the above named there are others I’ve heard who will also run for the 2010 Presidential Election Circus like Quezon City Mayor Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr.

This is going to be a very exciting Presidential elections I think that is if the present administration will allow it from happening since it seems President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is cooking something to have the Charter Changed and hopefull keep her in position. Scary thought really, but I hope not.

Since they all want to be the President of the Philippines and occupy this seat, I will leave it to them them because I am in for the bigger fish.

This is what I’m aiming for as my future office
This fools did not know, I am a candidate in the upcoming Presidential elections in the United States of America. So friends and otherwise, give them Malacañang and I’ll take over the Oval Office. So vote for me on November 4.
