I do my blogging at WordPress for 3 months now and I should say I still find uploading and installing new themes and plugins a hassle. Even tweaking my CSS was kind of difficult.
Yesterday, I found the reminder on my dashboard that I can now upgrade to WordPress 2.8 and with just a couple of questions answered from someone who already did an upgrade I did it myself.
At first I was worried that I might loose some files, plugins or widget if I upgrade but I was surprised that everything appeared liked there was no change at all. However, if you look closer in your dashboard you will see the new features with the upgrade that are so user friendly.
I love how the theme selection is now integrated in the appearance section. Just click appearance > add new theme > search for a theme > preview the theme > install theme. It’s now that easy. You don’t have to find a theme download it on your pc and then upload it on your FTP client and than install in your WP blogs. There are hundreds of theme you can choose from and you can do your search depending on your preference like what color you want, how many columns you need, if you are looking for an SEO optimized theme, threaded comments and more!
Installing a new plugin is as easy as going to the plugin > add new plugin > search for a plugin > install plugin. Viola. What’s great about the plugin search is that the plugins are user rated and the function is also defined.
If you are on WordPress upgrade to WP 2.8 now! You will love it! I am so loving it I am now creating my new blog with it!

For those who hasn’t upgraded yet — follow earth’s advice and upgrade now! I also had doubts on upgrading before simply because I am afraid of wrecking my blog. I have now upgraded to WordPress 2.8 and let me tell you that it’s much user-friendly and easier to use.
I don’t have that much tech knowledge and guess what? I survived the upgrade without messing up my blog… 🙂
