Tell me honestly when was the last time you had a confession? Did you tell the priest the whole truth about your sins or have you kept something for yourself ?
I must admit there are times when I embellished my words during confessions. I don’t directly tell the priest the exact sin I did. I would sometimes tell him double meaning words so I would not embarrass myself with the priest since since I see the priest almost everytime I hear a mass. It’s not that I am lying but I’m just not telling everything.
Sometimes I would use other people with my confession like tell the priest that my friend did this and asked for my advice and I don’t know what to tell her. But I think priest are used to this kind excuse so they accept and listen.
Anyway, I was just reminded about this when I came about one of the video clips from Red Chair Confessions . This one was with the girl talking to a priest about something that she shouldn’t be doing at least not until she is older, much older. This thing she did she did not do only once but eight times which caught the priest attention.
I think it was about doing the sexual act but I could be wrong her double meaning words could mean anything.

Re: the video – it’s intentionally vague. It does suggest sex, which COULD mean self-gratification (how else could she go to do it RIGHT NOW?)
BTW, if it IS sex, I’d surprised if at least one of her contemporaries is doing it as well.
To your original point: frankly, I’m not Catholic (I’m Protestant) but I don’t see the therapeutic value in a confession only partially confessed.

I rarely use double meaning words in confessions, it is almost like lying. I make sure the God (through the priest) fully understands the evils I did. This is because I feel I am are there to ask for forgiveness and at that state of course I ought to be crying and embarrassed and ashamed and repentant. Otherwise I would feel it is just for show, which I believe is another sin.
