Why I Don’t Use FourSquare

I don’t want to use Foursquare and have no plans of using it in the near future.

What is Foursquare?

Its a game application you download on your cellphone that instantly connect to your address book, Twitter account and Facebook account where players gets badges for unlocking new locations or “checking-in” at certain locations.  It has GPS imbeded so it can track where you are.

• Its intended for fun and for information to get tips about establishments like theaters, restaurant, shops, airport, services, and events.
• Those who want to earn more badge say they fake their locations.  So it already depicts the purpose.  However  some users post real information about their locations and their feedback/ 

Why I don’t want to use Foursquare?

• They said Four Square is just a game but I see it as a dangerous tool to invite stalkers and bad people and other bad elements to linger in your life on a daily basis.
• Some say they use fake check-in locations to avoid stalkers, so what’s the use of it having your friends know where you are when you are posting fake details.  A simple text to the friend or friends you want to meet will suffice for me.
• I don’t want to give information to where I am at a particular moment and give way to a potential stalker.
• I don’t want to give fake information of my whereabouts either because of the same reason.
• Even if I blog and post about my happenings and things about me, I still would like to keep my privacy at a level and Foursquare is a nightmare for me in that sense.

I know I’m so praning, but its better be cautious than sorry.
