Alter Space: The Power To Change Is In You

I’ve been in support of many advocacy to help preserve our planet so when I learned that we will be taken in a weekend getaway in Nurture Spa, Tagaytay to learn more about Alter Space latest Facebook game application developed by Filipinos to raise awareness on environmental protection and conservation I instantly said yes.

AlterSpace takes a gamer into a mission to take care of his/her own planet by trying to maintain a low level of carbon footprint and stay happy by doing so.

What has carbon foot print and happiness got to do with keeping the planet protected? A lot!

Carbon foot print
is the amount of carbon a person releases in the atmosphere, the higher carbon you release the harmful it is for you and the planet as it causes great complications in the environment making your life a living hell so to speak.

With high levels of carbon in the atmosphere the more imbalance it gets . It’s one of the main cause of global warming with result we have all been a witness remember Ondoy and the melt of the glaciers in Atlantic, the great flood in Australia  which is known to be the driest continent in the world.

Anyway, Alter Space makes you aware of your activities and how much carbon foot print you leave when you do so.

I played the game already and I was surprised that event taking a pee would release amount of carbon. I didn’t know that eating so much livestock causes more harm to the planet than eating organic. I think its really time for me to start a healthy living by eating more organic foods.

I admire the technical people who created this application as they really do their homework to know the details or amount of carbon for each activity we do. Another admiring part of Alter Space is that it introduces a lot of Filipino culture and lifestyle in it, raising our national culture and pride. Its the first Filipino Facebook game application made by Filipino.

Hats off to AboitizPower they supported and funded this project.

To parents, don’t worry the game is non-addicting. They made it short and sweet so that when one plays it they reach a higher level fast all the game wanted is to raise awareness about carbon footprint and explicitly tell everyone that the power to change is in their hands.

The game will be introduced in an offline format soon and they hope to have it introduced to public schools so that it reaches a wider audience, particularly those who don’t have access online.

If you want to play the game check it out here.
