Head Over Heels

There is no doubting that heels are a girl’s best friend, but have you ever wondered why we love the shoes that hurt us the most? A heel gives us height and with that comes a sense of power and sexiness but at what price?

 Our favourite heels vary between three to six inches high, the first time we wore them we thought we would topple to almost certain death but still we survived and with that survival came a love affair that will see us right through to whatever age our feet give out on us.

The truth is, us women are not gluttons for punishment, we simply just love shoes. Of course there are a few amongst the female race who prefer a flat, comfortable shoe but the idea of hitting the town without a pair of heels is enough to bring on a cold sweat.

The range of heels available now is phenomenal; wedges, stilettos, court shoes, heeled womens boots, we have an endless choice and putting the finishing touches to an outfit has never been harder. Sometimes we have even been known to style an entire outfit around a new pair of shoes rather than vice versa.

We don’t take things to Lady Gaga extremes but the height has to be there. Kitten heels are a no-no and frankly a confusing addition to the world of shoes, although no doubt we will be relying on them as an OAP.

We can’t get enough of towering heels, straps, buckles, lace ups, leather, patent, embellished, corsages. A different pair of heels for every day is the dream wardrobe in our eyes and while we might not be able to adorn ourselves with Jimmy Choos we don’t mind living off beans and toast if we have a new pair of shoes in our lives.

We are well and truly under the spell of a good pair of heels, some might call it an addiction.
