#WIWTD 55: Vintage Batik Dress

Vintage

This dress is 55 years old. My mom wore it when I was not even born and I was not even on her mind back then.

She had this dress custom-made for her. Or back then their term was tailor-made. She always had her clothes made for her, I grew up with her doing that.

When I was in Grade School my mom would come home from her shopping bringing with her an imported fashion magazine (MOD I think, not the Philippine MOD) and yards and yards of fabric. She just picked a design from the magazine she brought and is ready to have a seamstress make it for her.

Some of the clothes made back then were really good, the stitches were done well and the fabric were of high quality, they don’t fade or look worn-out fast. Unlike the fabric from this generation, just a couple of washes and the clothes is done pambahay nalang
.

I wore this dress at an event held last week in Stella, BCG, where the dress code was summer ready outfit. I think this was summer ready with the design and the color.
