“Education is not just feeding the minds but also feeding a strong healthy body.”
With this in mind, the Department of Education (DepEd) and makers of Birch Tree Fortified powdered milk partnered together to reinforce the habit of drinking milk of school age kids with the DepEd and Birchtree Me and My Milk program. At the moment, the Philippines falls under the required daily consumption of milk compared to our Asian countries.
Starting September 2015, Kindergarten to Grade 2 students from select public schools in the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Ilocos Region will get free milk drink from Birch Tree and workbooks that discuss proper nutrition and the benefits of drinking milk. DepEd was responsible for choosing which schools to focus on for the program.
DepEd and Birch Tree representatives will also conduct lectures for parents and teachers during the Me and My Milk campaign visit where the distribution of workbooks and milk will be held.
By the end of the campaign in April, DepEd and Birch Tree Me and My Milk program aims to treat about 320,000 school kids with this great tasting and nutritious milk. Both parties are hopeful to convince the kids and their parents to continue drinking milk for the rest of their lives.
