A Sneak Preview to Global Mala Project 2015 via Private Vinyasa and Pranayama Meditation Yoga Class

It has been awhile since I practiced Vinyasa, so when I was invited for a private class which is a sneak preview to the upcoming Global Mala Project 2015 with the theme Unity Through Yoga, I did not hesitate, in fact I was one of the earliest to arrive at the venue to prepare myself of all the stretching I haven’t done in awhile.

While I do some exercises, Yoga, particulary Vinyasa is kinda different. Yoga instructors Nikki Torres and Francis Flavian lead our private Vinyasa and Pranayama Meditation yoga classes respectively. More than an exercise, yoga is a philosophy and way of life centered on the unity of the mind, body, and spirit. It is a philosophy and lifestyle that emphasizes “wholeness.”.

Ms. Theresa Herrera was there before we did the class and told us about the purpose of the Global Mala Project which is the largest unified worldwide yoga event that will occur on September 26th, in line with the United Nation’s Day of Peace and the Fall Equinox. There are different private Yoga classes and meditation lectures and discussion at different rooms that will happen at the WhiteSpace in Makati.

The Global Mala Project is an annual project of Ms. Herera dedicated to promote peace and positive change through yoga, as well as raise social consciousness and funds for noteworthy causes,

Seeking to create a “mala around the earth,” (In traditional yoga, a mala is a set of beads, used to focus awareness during meditation) she was inspired by her yoga mentor and the Global Mala Project’s founder Shiva Rea, to bring the event to our shores. As a model, environmentalist, and yoga teacher, Teresa shares the vision of her mentor in creating a positive energy through yoga that would pulsate around the world. In the recent months, she has been working closely with event producers and yoga centers around Manila to ensure the success of this event. All of the event collaborators are doing the work completely pro-bono, to ensure that 100 % of its proceeds go to charity. This year’s event will benefit Children’s International.

Here’s us practicing Vinyasa and after that Pranyama afterwards:
