Accessories Design Mini-Workshop at iAcademy

How do you make an accessory out of paper?  That was our challenge for the day at the accessories design mini-workshop at iAcademy a few weeks back.

Manu Respall, an artist by heart was our professor for the day who taught me that art is subjective because what is beautiful to me may not be beautiful to him.   I may think that the shirt I was wearing that day was fabulous but he might think otherwise (and yes that was one of his example that day!)    Manu, as called by many, owns Dog Fischer, which is clothing line for men.  He is also an artist in all sense of the word as he is an actor, a painter, a model, a poet, and a jewelry designer.  In fact his works was featured at Vogue Italia!

I was done in less than 10 minutes, I just crumpled and twist the bond paper they handed us and made an arm band out of it. I swear it looked better with colors or maybe at least newspapers instead of plain white haha! Crumpled paper art is something I like doing. I make Chrstmas Tree and a lot of Xmas decor with crumpled newspaper, FYI!

Now it’s time to parade our creations!

I didn’t win the challenge, I don’t expect to look at the competition. There’s just so many creative people in the room! But I sure had a lot of fun!

iAcademy is the only college in Ayala Avenue Makati right across the Ayala Triangle. They normaly offer four year college courses and Fashion Design is one of their main courses. In the future, probably sooner than we think, they will offer short courses for those who are already working or want to pursue continued education in Arts, like this Accessory Design Workshop we had.

The usual entrance examinations and requirements and age are accepted to enroll at iAcademy as you need to pass your High School Diploma and transcript upon enrollment in their 4 year courses. The place I believe is a conducive place of inspiration. Upon entry a nice hallway of wall art hangs and beautiful creations of dresses displayed along the isle.

This indeed was a fun learning experience.

How about you, any new things you’ve learned and created lately?

Stay gorgeous everyone!
