Please Let Me Vote On 2010 – The Railroading Of The Constitutional Assembly

I now interrupt my fashion blogging to give way to this very important topic.

Last night, without any long interpolation, unlike what our Congressmen usually do with other pressing laws that needs to be passed because of urgency, they approve a resolution that would convene Congress into a constituent assembly to amend the 1987 Constitution (House Resolution 1109).

The timing is suspicious since the Lower House will be on recess this week.  They sneaked the passing of this bill right under our noses when the whole country was distracted with the Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili sex video scandal and the Dacer-Corbito case with Cesar Mancao coming to town. It’s sad that we get easily distracted with shallow things and our present administration is so damn good at ceasing every opportunity to make us all look like fools.

Although I believe both Houses (Lower House and Senate) should convene to get this moving, we should all be vigilant about this.  The majority always outbid the minority.  I hope our Senators and the members of the Supreme Court will not allow this. PLEASE LET ME VOTE ON 2010!

Honestly, I never have exercised my right to vote since I was 18.  This 2010 was supposedly my first time to vote but it looks like I am not getting that chance.  Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo wants to sit forever in Macañang and her “cronies” want to reap the benefits of being her pets.

I do agree that our Constitution needs to be revised but the timing is very suspicious.  I would rather be at ease that the new President of the Philippines after the 2010 election put this on his priorities than have this administration of their President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo do this now on her term. We all know how greedy she can be when it comes to power.  She held the country hostage  for almost 10 years now when the Constitution only allows a 6 year term.

We have been fooled for a long time now let’s not keep mum about this.   I know we are all disappointed by the vested interest of every traditional politician that was installed in their position but who voted them anyway?

Here are the names of the Congressman who responsible for this House Bill 1109.  Remember their names well and if we get the chance to vote don’t vote for them.  They are robbing us of our rights.  Little do we know Arroyo already has a draft Constitution in her hands and as soon as the Constitutional Assembly is formed she will sneak “her” laws again and we will all be bound by tyranny and this is much worst than Martial Law.
