There is a law against discrimination of persons with disability here in the Philippines the Republic Act 9442. I remember Makati Mayor Jeojomar Binay said in the ANC Forum that we have so many laws but we lack enforcement. I definitely agree. Although the lack of enforcement is also due to ignorance of the citizens and the law enforcers as well.
It’s sad that there was no such law in Australia enforced yet or these people from the Autism Asperger Advocacy Australia (A4) steering committee can be fined and imprisoned for locking out all members diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorders (persons with autism PWA) last month. Which is crazy, they are advocating Autism welfare and yet they shut off members with autism from their meeting with regards to policy making. Same thing goes to Autism Speaks who said they are advocating Autism welfare and yet they do not employ PWA.
Such is the reason why those who are differently abled (persons with disability PWD) and their families are the ones who broaden their understanding instead of the other way around. It’s great to know that there are places on the world wide web that persons with disability and are disabled can go and meet people who are on the same boat as them like this disabled chat site.
