The Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center is the Philippines premiere science museum located at the Southside Entertainment Mall of SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The center features over 400 exciting and interactive exhibits in nine walk through galleries and houses the country’s most advanced planetarium and dome theater. It is open daily from 10am to 10pm. It is also a proud member of the Association of Science Technology Centers Incorporated (ASTC), the international association of science center and museums that promotes understanding and appreciation of science. ASTC has more than 540 members in 40 countries and was founded in 1973.
I was there at the Nido Fortified Science Discover Center to watch the advance screening of Ice Worlds, a documentary that probes the delicate balance between ice, water and the existence of life, which has been a topic of science exploration and discovery for generations.
This documentary examines the ecosystems that live and thrived in the Earth’s Arctic and Antarctic regions and how their survival is connected with human being’s own survival. The documentary was narrated by Emily Watson.
Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan, CEO and vice chairman of the Board of Trustees of WWF Philippine swas there as a keynote speaker and educated us about the importance of ice in human existence and of the Earth.
The event was presented by SMART and sponsored by Nestle Nido Fortified, Coca-cola, and BDO and supported by WWF Philippines, Mrs. Field’s Cookie Cafe, A-Z Direct Marketing, and Timelife. Yehey.com was their online media partner.
