Update on Cory’s cortege/ funeral convoy, it’s been four hours since they left Manila Cathedral but they still have not reached the Manila Memorial Park due to the thick crowd that wanted to have the last glimpse of the mother of the EDSA Revolution.
Rest in Peace Tita Cory and Thank You for teaching us how to pray. Rest now Tita Cory. Thank you and farewell.
The requiem mass (last mass) for the late President Cory Aquino was indeed an emotional one Kris Aquino, her youngest daughter could not contain the deep sadness she feels for the passing of her mom. It was so unreal for her before but now this is it, this is real, she has to go now.
She was crying the whole time the sermon was being delivered. Pinky was crying too during the offertory songs delivered by Piolo Pascual and Zsa Zsa Padilla.
After the mass Military Honors were given to the former Chief of Staff. Regine Velazquez and Martin Nievera sang after the military honors. Cory’s casket lay at the center of a red flatbed truck decked with yellow and white anthuriums, orchids and mums draped with the Philippine flag and surrounded by four honor guards from Marine, Navy, Airforce and Army. Who are the four honor guards at Cory’s cortege?
Kris Aquino’s last words for her mom:
“How can I ever say goodbye to you… I lied to you we will never be ok…. It will take a lifetime for us to be ok.”
A 21-gun salute will be fired in key military camps when Aquino’s remains are taken out of the Manila Cathedral for burial at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque tomorrow.
The practice is contained in the military manual for honoring presidents and former presidents who have passed away, Brawner said.
Former President Aquino will be buried next to her husband, Sen. Ninoy Aquino, at the family mausoleum at Manila Memorial Park. Lamberto Peña, Park manager, said Mrs. Aquino’s tomb will be on the left side if one is facing Ninoy’s niche.
