Honestly, I can’t remember if I’ve ever been to the Lopez Musuem and Library. Come to think of it I think I’ve never been there.
I know what a shame since this library cum museum host so many wonderful arts and treasures by the Philippines finest artist ever like Juan Luna y Novicio and Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo, our 19th century Filipino masters. Both submitted a painting to the 1884 Exposicion General de Bellas Artes in Madrid which gained international recognition to the Philippines fine arts.
Luckily Lopez Museum celebrates 50th anniversary on February 18 which gives me an opportunity to finally see and experience our country’s rich culture and treasures.
In line with the 50th Anniversary Celebration Lopez Museum and Library will be Unfolding a book launch and opening of Threads exhibit.
“Unfolding Half a Century: The Lopez Memorial Museum” is a coffee table book that will kick-off the anniversary alongside with the opening of the “Threads: The Museum of Site for the Weaving of Tales” an exhibit of contemporary artist like Jean Marie Syjuco, Ann Wizer, Myra Beltran, Jef Carnay, Ann Tiuhikoy Pamintuan, Leo Abaya and Kiri Dalena. These artist will portray characters from the iconic works in the museum.
Highlights of these performances and installation pieces will be exhibited at the Rockwell Power Plant Mall North Court from February 19 to 25, 2010
