My ‘Love & Other Drugs’ Movie Review

I was surprised to see Anne Hathaway do a very mature and uninhibited role as much as I am surprised with the PG13 ratings the MTRCB gave to this movie.

Anne Hathaway

Love & Other Drugs was full of sex and nudity, butt exposures, nipples and sexual insinuations and so much sexuality  that is definitely meant for mature audiences not for a PG13 crowd. I hope MTRCB review their ratings to this movie.

Other than that the movie was very good especially Anne Hathaway’s acting. Anne was almost stereotyped into to sweetie cutey wholesome roles but she was very convincing in this movie as she portrayed the role of a young artist afflicted with Parkinson’s disease.  No wonder she got a nomination for this movie in the recently concluded 2011 Golden Globe Awards.

Love & Other Drugs tells of two people, both free-spirited who started out having casual sex which then evolved into something much more complex. Maggie‘s (Anne Hathaway)  disease makes it difficult for her to continue her work, slowly impairing her speech and motor skills. Jake Gyllenhaal on the other hand plays Jamie Randall who is an ultimate seducer working at the giant pharmaceutical Pfizer. The two initially agrees to a no-strings-attached arrangement, just sex whenever and wherever each of them needs it.

Love & Other Drugs

The movie was artistically made, the shots were not too vulgar to be said as an adult movie.  Maybe I’m too conservative to rate this movie R18 despite the wonderful story behind all those sex but still only a mature audience can grasp why there’s so much sex and nudity in the film so definitely I will stick to an R18 rating than a PG13.  I wouldn’t let my child watch this even at 13.

But for audiences 18 and up I recommend this movie, its an awesome date movie, more of a chick flick actually.  But men would love to see this too because of some breast exposures!
