My Black Swan Movie Review

Undoubtedly, Natalie Portman deserves the Best Actress award she got at the Golden Globe Awards for the movie Black Swan. Her performance was definitely outstanding and very effective in transmitting her emotions to the viewers.

Her eyes were definitely her strongest suit as she portrayed the role of  a Nina who was weak innocent and submissive in one part, then strong, wild, seductive and aggressive in another.  But as a whole she was crazy on both ends and was living in her own mind.

The shots were tight and raw, dizzying at times. If the purpose of the shots was to make the audience feel the same emotions as Nina (confused, dazed and stressed ) then they were successful at that and did a great job.

The movie was dark (of course its a psycho-thriller) and not fit for young audiences and is rated R-13 by the MTRCB.

My Black Swan Movie Synopsis
Black Swan is a backstage story of the ballet Swan Lake.  It focuses of a dancer (Nina) who is obsessed to be the Swan Queen.  She is the perfect fit as the White Swan, innocent and pure.  However the production company would like a different twist by infusing a seductive and rebellious Black Swan, the  part that matches another dancer Lily (Mila Kunis) .    The competition for the part unleashed Nina’s dark side.  Movie also stars Vincent Cassel.

Thanks to 20th Century Fox for the invite at the press screening tonight. Black Swan will be shown in Philippine Cinemas on February 23, 2011.

  1. I hope MTRC did not hack it to death. I’m watching it in the theaters (to support the production team), but I’m going to watch the DVD pa rin.
